💙⚽ Why I Love Football Video Games "It all started in a Fish & Chip Shop"⚽💙 #Retrogaming

Share This Post On Share to Facebook Share to Twitter Share This Post On
It all started with an arcade game in a Fish & Chip Shop in Enfield.

The shop was called the Sea Shell Fish Bar and the arcade cabinet was TEHKAN WORLD CUP
After witnessing someone complete the game whilst I was standing in the shop queue with my dad one Friday night I was never the same again.

I was obsessed with football video games from that point onwards and more specifically I was obsessed with the quest to find the best football game out there.

☆ First Look: Sociable Soccer "Sensible Soccer's Grandchild" ☆ #GameDev #EarlyAccess

Share This Post On Share to Facebook Share to Twitter Share This Post On

Sensible Soccer has a long and illustrious history and sits in the hearts of 90's gamers like no other football video game from that period ever did.

Lots of games tried and failed to replicate the perfect blend of fun and depth that was baked into Sensible Soccer's DNA.

In 2017 Jon Hare and co. are back with a next generation of the Sensible Soccer lineage that is looking to reinvoke memories of those heated and frantic 2 player matches that you had with your brothers, mates and family.

Sociable Soccer is everybody's favourite second team right now and we're all rooting for the legendary midfield maestro as he comes back for one last go at lifting the cup.

Can Sociable recreate the glory days of the golden generation or will it fade like Kick Off Revival did?

Let's Kick Off with a Rabona Kick and find out, shall we?

Joystick, Retrogaming, Computer Games

Retrogaming is best enjoyed using your favourite controller.

Whether that be a Joystick, Joypad or even a Gaming Mouse.

Over the years I have found that I can only play some games properly with one particular type of controller and if it isn't that controller I turn into a cack-handed jibbering idiot!

Read on to find out more about my favourite controllers and the games that they make me great at!

Football games have formed a massive part of my video games playing for the last 30 years.

When I was younger I was constantly in search of the perfect football game.

I always wanted to recreate the excitement of the playground game on my computer or console.

Once I had a football game in my possession it would be the only game I played for months on end.

Football, "The Beautiful Game"

is a love so very dear to our heart.

So if you were to cross football (soccer) with Pixel Art & video games then we are in seventh heaven

As you can imagine, when we stumbled across 8 Bit Football.Com it was our dreams come true!

The guys at "8 Bit Football" draw football players in low resolution........a simple mission but boy are they good at it....

The pixel art is Sensible Soccer-esque but with even more added character.

All the footballers and scenes are instantly recognisable to any serious football fan and we found it like reading football comic book as we relived some of the memorable moments from seasons gone by in not only the domestic game but also the international game.

Feast your eyes on some of this marvellous pixel art work by the 8 Bit Guys

Not just satisfied with producing these amazingly cool Pixel Art masterpieces the guys at 8 Bit Football are working with the Indie Game Developer "Super Rock Games" from London in order to develop a video game in the mould of Sensible Soccer and Kick Off and they are calling it....

They are currently beavering away on the match engine and honing the game play.

But due to the small nature of the game dev team and the BIG ambition of this brilliant project, they have instigated a KickStarter funding campaign to make it a reality.

They will soon launch the campaign on Kickstarter and will need ALL OUR support to achieve it's goal!

Keep track of the Game Dev Blog >>>HERE<<< for more up to date news of when the campaign will be launched and also for up to date development news!

We'll be waiting with baited breath for this beauty to be released!!

Games Freezer - Top 5 Video Games Of All Time

Share This Post On Share to Facebook Share to Twitter Share This Post On
Games Freezer
Everybody knows that this is an impossible task and one task that takes full concentration in order to distill 25 years worth of games playing into 5 all time great titles!

You may call us crazy but we have only gone and attempted it!

Having looked at all the machines we have played since 1979 we have pulled out the 5 games that have immersed us and pulled us into their grasp which has meant countless hours of gameplay have been poured into these 5 amazing games.

Of course with only 5 Video Games spots to fill there are countless great games that didn't make the Games Freezer Top 5!

So here goes..........

5. NBA Jam Tournament Edition (Arcade)

The game that made me into an Arcade junkie! I remember once taking a train with mates all the way to Brighton just to go and find the NBA Jam Tournament Edition Arcade box and play the 4 Player mode.......what a game....so much fun with your mates. Bought it recently on the PS3 still loads of fun!

4. Metal Gear Solid (PS1)

A game that took my breath away. This was miles ahead of its time and like nothing else i'd seen before. The storyline and presentation was like a movie and the gameplay was ingenius! It really felt like you were an undercover operative sneaking about and disposing of enemy security guards with sneak attacks. I still own a copy of this as I can't bear to part with it!

3. Super Mario Kart (SNES)

This game remained firmly lodged in my SNES until the time I sold it. Battle Mode was amazing and me and my friends actually created our own Battle Mode league complete with balloon difference points for the amount of balloons left on your Kart at the end of the match.

2. Fallout 3 (X360)

From the moment you step out of the Post Apocalyptic Vault and into the Wasteland, you are consumed by this game, over 100 hours of game time and I enjoyed every minute of it. A truly epic game.

1. Sensible Soccer (Amiga)

Over the years I have played many many football games and it was always the aim to play games that realistically simulated the beautiful game however, Sensible Soccer was a different breed , it's goal was to create a fun experience that could be played again and again and again and again and again. My personal favourite was scoring a diving header from the edge of the area with my microscopic player. A game that made me smile and still does. (closely followed by Sensible World Of Soccer)

So......Over to you.....
Are you up to the challenge of creating your own Top 5 All Time Video Games List?
It's a tough task and the GAMES FREEZER wants to know how you get on with compiling your Video Games List!
