The Games Freezer Has Been Saddened By The Death Of Harold Ramis.

Harold was best known for his immense comedy acting, directing and writing ability.

For us at Games Freezer he was the first

"Geek Super Hero"

We adore the Ghostbusters Films and his role as Egon Spengler has stuck with us to this day.

Naturally when we were kids, after watching the Ghostbusters Movie we all wanted to be a Ghost Buster with our very own Proton Packs.

Many a hosepipe was attached to a rucksack in order to try and create our very own Proton Packs along with a shoebox attached to a piece of string to create our Ghost Trap (and that was just last week!)

As you can imagine, When the Ghostbusters games hit video games shelves across every system we were always extremely excited about busting ghosts on our TV screens!

Not many Ghostbusters games actually did the film justice but there were definitely some highlights over the years.

As a tribute to Harold Ramis we have decided to give you a timeline of all the Ghostbusters Video Games Released on every system ever…..

We'd like to think that Harold played videogames and in particular we'd like to think that he played at least one of the Ghostbusters Games released over the years….

So, Harold, this is for you……………..

The EnGeniux team has ten years of game and manufacturing experience......

Between 2008 and 2010, they shipped a limited quantity of their first-
run console system.

Creator and inventor, Derrick Samuels, has worked and developed several
new trends in tech and practical products.

His initial system in 2004 was the first to converge a biometrics, PC, game console, DVR and media device into one unit.

That same unit was also the first system to provide the possibility of
content powered by the Akimbo Platform and digital distribution.

During the 2007 CES show he demonstrated voice recognition software to
control the game console interface.

In 2008 his first system shipped with Linux as a working OS for a start-up game console company.

In 2009 he introduced cloud storage to the console before other console systems
considered the format.

In 2010 his company was the first in the market to truly see and test the potential of Android as a gaming platform for a game console.

The 2008 units are still in use, and his company continues to provide

★The Man Behind "MICH The Game"★ @Mich_Game @Rob_Kian #GameDev #GamersUnite #RetroGaming

Share This Post On Share to Facebook Share to Twitter Share This Post On

A while back we covered a preview of "MICH The Game" as our Game Of The Day and as part of our preview we managed to track down the guy behind the game

Rob Kian from Eat My Face Games.

We asked him a few questions about the upcoming game and here's what he had to say.....

"Firstly, we just wanted to understand a few things about your latest project MICH

Things like, who you are and your background etc"

"I'm a guy in my 30s living in London and have been gaming before it was cool!

OK, maybe since '86.

I have always wanted to just be surrounded by games, in and out of work.
With a short-ish history in the game industry, i'm a spring chicken compared to others.

I worked for SEGA Europe for 7 years in Quality Assurance on projects ranging from Sonic Colours and Virtua Tennis to Aliens: Colonial Marines.

What has inspired you to create such a cool looking game?
"Thanks for saying so,  I was inspired by my girlfriend, she was getting a lot of text messages and I said it would be funny to make a game about the demons in her phone and then we just took it from there."
What is MICH all about, what's the story?
"This is something I haven't really put out on the internet, not even on my own site.

I have this all written down in pieces and its not really in a stage to be concretely defined. But I can put some things together, just for you. This is a first!
MICH is a story about paranormal events that take place after an accident in Mich's workplace.

Through mystery events, Mich's boyfriend Rob is transported to another time/space and will have to sift through the mystery events while attempting to get back home. Who's saving who?
The characters are not final, the story is not finished, the game is really in a pre-alpha state but here's some small details.

The game will feature 2 styles of gameplay:

Story areas/scenes with RPG style dialog text boxes and conversations.

Combat areas/scenes with platforming and combat.

Hey Rob Thanks for the brief Q&A -

We Can't Wait To See The Game In Full Flow, Keep Us Posted Dude!

♥A Weekend In With Championship Manager 93/94♥ #RetroGaming #GamersUnite

Share This Post On Share to Facebook Share to Twitter Share This Post On

RetroGaming, Games Freezer

Sitting here now on a Friday I cast my mind back to when Friday meant one thing………

CHAMPIONSHIP MANAGER

Yes, Friday was the gateway to a whole weekend consumed by playing Championship Manager on my trusty Amiga 600

As you have no doubt heard from thousands of other CM addicts from around the world, CM could dominate your life like no other game possibly could.......

CM was a game that you had to set aside at least 4 hours of your life, there was no dabbling in CM or "casual play", it was an all or nothing kind of game.

Championship Manager as we know is essentially a massive spreadsheet of player stats and yet the illusion that you are somehow controlling these players actions was the draw.

You would spend hours of your life pulling together your very own elite dream team of players.

The gameplay on the Amiga was simple compared to the ridiculously complex gameplay of todays version of CM.

That was the key though, you could literally play a season in an evening because once you'd set your team up and bought who you wanted you could pretty much play match after match after match…….

The CM version that dominated my life was Championship Manager 93/94

RetroGaming

The Disk for this game barely left my disk drive. The only time it left my drive was to put in my save disk.

Back then you were presented with a couple of questions when you loaded up the game and these were something like

"What Is The 3rd Score On Page 21 of the manual"

This was put into place as an anti piracy measure for those naughty people who had copied their mates CM disks (not as complex as the Monkey Island 2 wheel but almost as effective.)

My team of choice back then was Nottingham Forest (even though I support Tottenham Hotspur) Forest were a strong team in the Premier League back then and I had always admired their passing style of play.

Once you started the game that was it, you'd launch into the main task of signing players.

Back then it was all about signing Chris Bart Williams or Robbie Fowler as they were young, up and coming superstars of the time!

There was a guy called Poddubski in my version who had the holy grail of CM Stats ….. ALL 20's!

Championship Manager Stats were made up of the following categories:

My Forest team played together for 15 seasons and by the team I had rolled around to season 15 the team was full of player regens with unrecognisable names such as Johnny Hoddle and the like.

CM was the first game that really stole hours from me as one minute you'd check the clock and it was 8pm and then before you knew it, it was 2am and you'd utter the immortal phrase

"Just One More Match…….and then BED!"

Wedged between playing real football and CM my weekends were consumed with the game.

Breaks came in the form of meals as my mum would shout up to me in my loft bedroom to tell me when dinner was ready.

This was well before the days of games asking you whether you have thought of taking a break from playing (like the good old Wii tends to do)

One of my favourite past times though, had to be the Championship Manager Hot Seat 2 player Game……..in other words a 2 player CM game where you take it in turns to manage your club.

The hotseat games would mean that you were competing for the same transfer deals more often than not and it made it even more realistic as you battle it out in the same league together. These were good times!

When Sunday came I had plenty of stories to tell my mates at school and sometimes I'd actually print out my Nottingham Forest Team to show off my average ratings and scores in Cup Finals.

These truly were the glory days of Championship Manager!

DID YOU KNOW?

"The Championship Manager '94 - End of Season Data Disk, which was available on the Amiga, contained 2 fictional players added by a couple of people who worked on the game. The players were Mark Collis and Ferah Orosco. They were a striker and a defender, respectively, for Cambridge United in Division 3 and are regarded as the first ever fictional super-players in the CM series"

The online community for the early versions of CM are still very much active so take a look at some of these cool sites for your CM fix…

Firstly There's The Story Of The Champ Man 01/02 Community HERE
Then There's The Actual Champ Man 01/02 Community Forums HERE

Then there's the legendary "The Dugout" site HERE

Not only that, why don't you get on over to MY ABANDON WARE and download the original CM 93/94 game and get playing!

HERE

With all this CM Goodness still about its made us want to go home tonight and get lost in CM world till Sunday night…….now where did I put my Amiga?

RetroGaming

When we started the Games Freezer blog it was to re visit what made us fall in love with video games in the first place.

It was born out of a frustration that we felt that mainstream video games had lost touch with the real reason we play video games.

FUN……..Fun is the reason we play games and the reason we started to play video games back in the day.

As we stared into the abyss of today’s gaming world bleakly we didn't like what we saw……..

We saw games companies so far removed from the pioneers of the early 80's gaming scene that they no longer really knew their audience.

That’s when we decided to create Games Freezer.......

We wanted to create a place away from all the Bull Shit that's out there surrounding Video Games at the moment.

A place where we can share the love of video games past and present that share the same spirit as the video Games pioneers from yesteryear.

We envisage Games Freezer as a place where you can come and see the latest creations from the Indie scene or some really cool game art or maybe learn about a retrogaming classic or what about just geeking out on a time-line of retro consoles?

After Games Freezer was born and we got involved in the video games scene, we quickly found an amazing online community of like minded people who seem to get what we are trying to achieve.

There are some really cool people from all over the world who are into this amazing games scene as much as we are and they live it every day, just like we do.

Whether that be on Twitter, Google + or You Tube there's an amazing set of people that we never knew existed.

Contrary to popular belief they are not the so called FAN BOYS that fill the forums of various websites with vitriol about who's console is better.

The great people we have found are people that just love video games and they have no ulterior agenda or motive, they just love video games and the FUN that they can bring.

They appreciate the work and craftsmanship that went into games that were made on systems that are no longer sold but which still to this day create great excitement and awe.

We also have discovered the brilliant game devs who are still producing games in the spirit of the Video Games Pioneers.

We have much love for these dudes and dudettes who really use their ingenuity on a limited budget to create amazing masterpieces.

At the beginning of this journey we were full of pesimism about the video games world and the gamer community, but almost a year on we now know that these amazing people exist and that video games community is in safe hands….

BIG LOVE TO YOU ALL …. AND KEEP SUPPORTING THE COOL COMMUNITY WE ALL BELONG TO!

What's your experience of the various online video games communities?

What's your favourite online community?

★"Dino Dini To Develop Kick Off HD Remake?"★ @dndn1011 #RetroGaming #GamersUnite

When we talk football / soccer video games, there is only one undisputed video game series that started it all off and that has to be the Kick Off Series

Any mention of Kick Off throws us way back into our childhoods as we wrestled with Kick Off 2 trying to get to grips with dribbling the ball and timing our shots at goal just right.

Kick Off 2

The Kick Off Series was one of those gems that was easy to play but hard to master.

But when you got close to mastering it, it rewarded you with slick passing moves and some amazing goals.

If you scored in Kick Off you felt like you'd really earned it. If you dribbled round / past an opponent you felt like Pele!

Kick Off was simple yet complex and was to the go to game whenever 2 player gaming was on offer
We played Kick Off back in the days of the Amiga A500 and the disk was rarely out of the disk drive (Only ever really replaced by Championship Manager)

To this day there is a thriving Kick Off Community which still host Kick Off World Cups around Europe!

Take a look at the amazing community at KO Gathering to see what fun these guys still have with Dino Dini's amazingly simple yet totally absorbing football game!

So when we heard that The Godfather Of Football Games Dino Dini has been supposedly eager to guage peoples interests in him developing an HD Remake of Kick Off (Player Manager / GOAL!)

To say we were excited was an understatement and to get us really excited there is an online petition to get signing too!

So we'd like to make a heartfelt plea to ALL of The Friends Of The Freezer to sign this petition as it would be a dream come true for us all here in The Freezer to see a HD remake of Kick Off!

What would you like to see in a Kick Off / Player Manager / GOAL! Remake?
