What is it that makes Japanese Box Art so much better than the rest of the world box art?

I'm especially talking about the time of the SNES when import games were a real big deal.

The Japanese version always had the cooler box art...no matter what game it was!

In order to prove this, I thought I would buy a random Japanese version of a Super Nintendo game from eBay......

This is what I ended up buying...

Football games have formed a massive part of my video games playing for the last 30 years.

When I was younger I was constantly in search of the perfect football game.

I always wanted to recreate the excitement of the playground game on my computer or console.

Once I had a football game in my possession it would be the only game I played for months on end.

Over the years there have been so many different platform genre video games created and with those platform games you will always find a new lead character who is the main focus of the game.

For the duration of the game you are solely concerned with the survival of this pixel man, boy, Animal or thing!

There have been many Platform Games that I have pored hours into and each character has left an impression on me.

I have therefore wracked my gaming memories and compiled a nice list for you of my favourite Platform Game Characters.

☆ Will There Ever Be A Breaking Bad Video Game? ☆ #GamersUnite #Retrogaming #BreakingBad

Share This Post On Share to Facebook Share to Twitter Share This Post On

As I reach Series 5 of Breaking Bad I can't help but think …..

"Why hasn't there been a Breaking Bad

Video Game released yet?"

This amazing TV series is easily one of the best pieces of TV ever made and it's up there with LOST for how it grips you with both story line and character exploration.

It feels like it needs an involving and gripping video game to be created to bring this story to the interactive medium we know and love.

It worked so well with The Walking Dead Video Game and it would be an ideal candidate for Tell Tale Games to give Breaking Bad Video Gamers what they would dearly love to see.

With so many angles to approach the game it gets me excited just to think how this game could be made..

Maybe you could play as a Cartel member?

Maybe a DEA agent?

Of course you could just play as Walter or Jesse……or even Gus...

It could be an RPG game or even a Lab Simulator!!

The scope for a great video game is endless.

I started to look around the world wide web for some inspiration and lo and behold there are many brilliant homages to Breaking Bad in Video Game form. Whether it be some cool Pixel Art or a short 8 bit sequence of what the game would look like there's some great stuff out there…

Let me show you what I have found…

☆ Do Involving Story Driven Games Exist On Android? ☆ #GamersUnite #Android

Games Freezer

For a long time I have been skeptical of most mobile games.

In my experience they tended to be good for a quick fix of commuter gaming but not necessarily something that will engross you and pull you in with high production values and engrossing story-line.

I have yearned for a game like Fallout to be converted to Android in order that I could undertake an epic quest on my mobile gaming platform of choice, Android.

For the last couple of years The Walking Dead video game has picked up multiple awards as it was released across multiple platforms.

From afar I have admired The Walking Dead video game premise but never quite got round to playing the game….

Then in April this year The Walking Dead was released for Android and the first episode was FREE…..

At this point I downloaded it onto my Nexus thinking that it was going to be an inferior experience to the console & PC versions but hey it was FREE so worth a punt….

Inferior??? OH HOW WRONG WAS I !!

I was reminded recently of some of the great handheld LCD games I would play as a 10 year old.

It would be a frequent sight to see a friend in the playground playing one of these cool games and they became one of the must have toys.

These handheld games were pre Gameboy and consisted of a moving image that would have a limited set of movements played out over an infinite loop that meant the aim for the player was to basically better the High Score.

Generally you found that the game got faster as your score got higher and you normally had around 3 lives to play with before it was GAME OVER....

I did some digging to see if I could find some of the great games that used to play.
From memory I started with the Game & Watch games released by Nintendo....

Thanks To Our Favourite Twitter Mate AverageManVsPi for reminding us of A SEGA service that we never actually got to play…..

It was called "SEGA Channel" and it was launched in the summer of 1996 and lasted until around 1998 when it was discontinued by SEGA.

It is seen by some as the Grand Daddy of services like XBOX LIVE and PSN. At this time though the Internet was in it's infancy and SEGA Genesis video games were delivered over coaxial cables!

It was essentially an interactive cable channel offering SEGA Genesis video games, Demos and Cheat Codes on demand, which were actually distributed by the cable and satellite operators of the day.

It enabled subscribers to download and play up to 25 SEGA Genesis games for £10 a month.

The whole idea was that it was introduced to boost the sales of video games…..

Here at Games Freezer, we never had an opportunity to play the games that were available or experience the service in action.

Did You Know?
"At its peak, Sega Channel had over 250,000 subscribers"

Were YOU One Of The SEGA Channel Users?

Was the service actually any good in practice?

Throughout the Fallout series you are given the option to bring along a companion for the ride and I am a great fan of companions as the Wasteland can be a very lonely place for the courier…

The companionship afforded by these select band of Wasteland heroes

(& villains) is extremely valuable to the player in combat and funnily enough the additional person to share the load with means you form a lasting relationship with this person (if that’s possible).

It's an odd occurrence really as you begin to start really caring about these sharers of your experience, especially after you assist them with their very own side quest which invariably gives you some backstory on how they have managed to end up in the wasteland.

☆I've Fallen Back In Love With Championship Manager☆ @champman #GamersUnite

Share This Post On Share to Facebook Share to Twitter Share This Post On

I'm a long time Championship Manager Fan, since the days of CM93 on Amiga and also an ancient Football Manager fan since the days FM on the Speccy.

With that in mind I've seen both series evolve immensely over the last 30 years...

The management sim genre has seen a shift each time towards more involving and complex gameplay whereby you can have a say in literally every part of 'your club' and how it's run.

That kind of gameplay has meant heaven for gamers with a whole weekend to orchestrate their attack on the division title and cup glory...

But as I've gotten older I've had less free time to plot Spurs' rise to Champions League grandeur and therefore haven’t purchased any of the recent FM or CM games because I know it's going to take me 8 hours to sort out my transfer targets, training regime and backroom staff.

I've wanted to go back to the days of CM93 where you pick your team make a few signings and away you go...
