Another day, another Video Game LoFi record to review, and this is a good thing.

This one features re-imaginings of true Renaissance developer Toby Fox’s music for Deltarune Chapter 2.

This release comes from Curaga Records as usual, on single black vinyl with a really nice holographic cover and heavyweight black paper sleeves. As with all VGLF releases, it’s got a premium feel.

If you’ve sought out other releases in this series, you know very well what you’re going to get, and this album doesn’t disappoint. Produced by Save Point, with a long list of collaborators, each track takes a song from the game and adds slowed-down beats and down-tuned synths to make great music for those quieter moments.

Standout tracks on side A include the jaunty Girl Next Door as reimagined by Floopy, Lofi Lia’s Lost Girl remix, and for the Undertale fans we have long-time collaborator Nokbient’s take on sans.

Flipping to side B, we get the now-traditional remix of Game Over music in the form of Richie Branson’s (not that one) Faint Courage, featuring a cool drum break and synths.

Other top tracks on this side include GlitchxCity’s short-but-sweet Acid Tunnel of Love and the 16-bit-esque final track Sound Studio, as brought to us by lost: tree with really lush instrumentation.

SUMMARY

To paraphrase an old saying, if you like this sort of thing, this is the sort of thing you’ll like.

As with the whole series, it’s excellent background music to work or study to, but it also rewards proper listening with a cuppa or glass of wine.

This is available physically via the Materia Store, on Bandcamp physically and digitally, or on the usual streaming services.
