Originally released in 1980 as a direct rival to the Atari 2600, the Intellivision carved out a name for itself with more realistic sports games, richer graphics, and its signature gold-and-black design. The fierce competition between the two consoles became known as the First Console War, a defining moment in gaming history.
Now, four and a half decades later, Atari is reviving that legacy with the Intellivision Sprint—a modern reimagining that blends retro charm with contemporary tech.
✨ What’s Inside the Sprint?
Developed in collaboration with PLAION REPLAI, the Intellivision Sprint stays true to its roots with a faithful recreation of the original’s wood grain front and gold accents. But under the hood, it’s all 21st-century:
- Two wireless controllers with modern ergonomics
- HDMI output for crisp visuals on today’s displays
- USB-A port for future library expansion
- 45 built-in games, spanning sports, strategy, and arcade classics

The console comes preloaded with 45 fan-favourite titles that showcase the Intellivision’s strengths:

The Intellivision Sprint will be available for pre-order starting 17th October 2025 for £99.99. It officially launches on:
- 5th December in the USA and Australia
- 23rd December in Europe

🧡 A Legacy Reborn

Following Atari’s 2024 acquisition of the Intellivision brand and its extensive game catalogue, the company has already released The First Console War expansion for Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration. Now, with the Intellivision Sprint, Atari begins a new chapter in retro hardware.
