Borja Delgado at The Geek Link - Talks 'Nutella Sandwiches' and 'Marty McFly Cosplay'

When it comes to retro gaming creators who radiate pure nostalgia, infectious enthusiasm, and a genuine love for the classics, Borja Delgado — better known as The Geek Link — is right at the top of the pile. His TikTok channel has become a vibrant hub for anyone who grew up in the glow of CRT screens, cartridge clicks, arcade cabinets, and 80s/90s/00s pop culture. What started as a passion project has quickly evolved into a community built on shared memories, deep‑cut references, and the kind of geek joy that never fades.

We sat down with Borja for a rapid‑fire Q&A covering his earliest gaming memories, favourite consoles, beloved genres, and even his go‑to sandwich. It’s fun, it’s nostalgic, and it’s packed with personality — just like The Geek Link

1. What's your earliest video gaming memory?

Sitting cross-legged in front of the family TV, watching those pixelated worlds load up and being completely hooked from the first "GAME OVER"

2. What was the first video game console or computer that you owned?

A Sega Master System, that's what got me hooked.

3. How did you get into the retro gaming scene on TikTok?

I started TheGeekLink as a way to combine my two lifelong obsessions: classic games and 80s/90s/00s pop culture, with short/long-form video. What began as a passion project just a few months ago quickly turned into a community of people who grew up on the same TV shows, movies, cartoons, consoles, and arcade cabinets, and it's been amazing watching that nostalgia resonate with people all over the world.

4. What's your favourite video game of all time?

The Legend of Zelda - Ocarina of Time on the N64, it's the game I keep coming back to, no matter how many years pass. And now an official remake is coming up!

5. What's your favourite console or computer of all time?

The SNES, hands down. The library of games from that era still holds up better than almost anything since.

6. What's your favourite arcade game of all time?

Street Fighter II, I spent way too many coins feeding that machine growing up.

7. What's your favourite sandwich?

A classic Nutella sandwich, simple, but unbeatable.

8. What's your favourite cuisine?

Italian, nothing can beat a good pizza or pasta dish.

9. What's your favourite alcoholic drink?

A super cold beer on a terrace.

10. Which current-generation video games do you play?

I'm a big fan of point-and-click adventures, especially; there's something about that genre that never gets old for me. On TikTok, I often get requests from indie developers to feature their games, and if I really connect with a project, I'll cover it. Some recent ones I've loved supporting include A Lost Man, Junkyard Stories, Silver Pines, and Tenebris Somnia. I love using the platform to give small indie studios more visibility, since that community deserves way more attention than it gets.

11. Who's your fave person to follow on TikTok?

I don't have just one; I love following movie and video game press accounts to stay up to date on what's happening: IGN, Fandango, etc. I'm also a big fan of StarTalk (Neil deGrasse Tyson) for a bit of science content, Jordan the Stallion, and De Todo un Paco for comic reviews. I like keeping a mix in my feed of gaming, movies, and pop science all in one scroll.

12. What's your favourite video game genre?

Adventure, nothing beats a tight, well-scripted + designed adventure game.

13. If you were a console, which one would you be and why?

The Nintendo 64! Bold, a little unconventional, and not afraid to do things differently even when everyone else was going a different direction. It didn't always follow the crowd, but it left behind some of the most memorable, genre-defining experiences in gaming history.

14. Can you recommend a good retro gaming shop or even just a great video game shop?

When in Chicago, you must visit The Exchange in Wicker Park, a proper retro collector's paradise, mixing vinyl, CDs, and movies with a really solid retro game selection. That kind of place where you go in for one thing and leave an hour later with three things you didn't know you needed.

15. If you were going to do a Cosplay tomorrow, what would it be and why?

Marty McFly 100%, the red puffer vest, the self-lacing sneakers, the whole Back to the Future look. It's peak 80s icon energy, and it doesn't get much more "geek nostalgia" than jumping into a DeLorean.

16. We love the awesome work you do on your socials. Can you tell us and the audience where they can find you?

You can find me over at @TheGeekLink, I post daily doses of retro gaming nostalgia, classic cartoons, and 80s/90s/00s geek culture. Come say hi!
