If you’re a fan of classic arcade games, there’s a good chance you remember the iconic game Centipede. Originally developed by Atari in 1980, this game has stood the test of time and continues to be popular with gamers of all ages. 

Now, more than 40 years later, Centipede has been reimagined in the new game Centipede Recharged, and it offers a fresh take on this classic title.

Centipede Recharged was developed by SneakyBox and Adamvision Studios, published by Atari and released in 2021. 

Their version of Centipede incorporates modern graphics and gameplay elements into the mix. In this game, players control a futuristic shooter tasked with taking down waves of venomous creatures. The game offers more diverse weapons than its predecessor, along with explosive power-ups to keep players on their toes.

One thing that hasn’t changed in Centipede Recharged is the iconic Centipede itself. It still slithers its way down the screen, leaving a trail of poisonous mushrooms in its wake. However, it’s now accompanied by various other creatures, including spider drones and large-scale bosses to offer players new challenges.

While Centipede Recharged has a modern look and feel, the game is still rooted in the fundamental gameplay mechanics that made its predecessor a classic. It’s a challenging and addictive experience that has a certain nostalgic charm to it. 

The game can be played on a variety of platforms, including Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC. I enjoyed playing it on my new Switch.
