We’ve covered a few games over the years from Broke Studios / Homebrew Factory (more info on them here) and their products are always of a high quality, with a heavy focus on giving tasty indie titles a professional-level physical release.

Today we will be taking a look at two of their Game Boy Colour titles, Mike Bedsole’s Kero Kero Cowboy, and Cel Design’s Yap and The Enchanted Bubbles.

I came across an upcoming game release a few weeks ago that caught my eye, a Game Boy Color title named Infinity, originally created by Affinix Software back in 2001, the game was never fully released due to publishing issues at the time.

Incub8 Games then picked up the project during a Kickstarter back in 2021, and now over 20 years on, the game is completed and finally ready for a physical release (a digital version is also available).

It’s always a pleasure to get the opportunity to play games lost to the mists of time, and so this is definitely one for the GBC fans out there to get excited about! In the coming months we will be reviewing the full game, but until then, check out the information below, and get your pre-orders rocking and rolling, should it tickle your fancy.

The Adventure Begins!

A group of brave heroes must gather the fragments of the Magic Crystal to face the evil Black Knight and thus prevent the destruction of the kingdom. But it will not be an easy task, for this they will have to overcome countless obstacles, defeat huge monsters and visit all kinds of places. Will these little heroes be able to restore peace to the kingdom?

Inspector Waffles: Early Days Game Boy Color Review

A feline-centric police procedural with a lightness of touch and a sharpness in its design, Inspector Waffles: Early Days has very quickly become one of my favourite Game Boy games.

A prequel to Goloso Games’ 2021 release Inspector Waffles, Inspector Waffles: Early Days follows the cat detective in his rookie days, as he finds his place in Cat Town.

Under the guiding eye of your partner, Pancakes (yes, this game will make you hungry), you’ll crack six cases in total, cases handed into your capable paws by your chief – Patches.

The first of these cases deals with the theft of a rare video game cartridge (good!), and you’ll soon find yourself falling into the satisfying pattern of discovering clues, interrogating suspects and solving crimes– as well as hopefully discovering some secrets along the way!

I’ve heard nothing but good things about Bitmap Books’ prior releases and so was keen to get hips deep in this, their most recent project. The book definitely lived up to the weighty expectations and really feels of a high quality throughout its almost 400-page heft.
