SuperSisi Talks To Us About Kendama, Famicom and Alien VS Predator 🕹️🍜 @supersisi_ #FriendsOfTheFreezer

It's been a while since we've featured one of our favourite Twitter friends and gotten to know them a bit better through a series of questions. So today we are bringing the feature back and we are proud to present to you a friend of the freezer @supersisi_

Sisi is a Super Retro Gamer who loves the arcade and posts lots of cool pics from her daily gamer life (she also loves Pork Soup Noodles!)

Let's get started with Question 1, shall we?!

1. Who are you and what do you do?

I am Sisi (pronounced “suh-suh”) and I am a retro gamer girl from Asia. I work in the days but also spend a lot of time discovering and playing old games. They are my favourite hobby! I am part of a group of friends who have been meeting at the arcade for many years and they introduced me to a lot of great vintage games.

I do have a game collection but I enjoy playing more than collecting (and collecting is too expensive for me!). I have a very obsessive personality when it comes to things that I like. I try very hard and practice relentlessly! If I really like a game I will attempt to get a 1CC (one credit clear) or 1LC (one life clear) if possible. I enjoy challenging myself! I do this with everything, actually. I’m the same with Kendama (a Japanese skill toy) and practice for hours trying to learn new tricks.
2. What's your earliest video gaming memory?
When I was very young my classmate’s older brother had a Famicom. I used to go to her house and play games there whenever I could. Many of my favourite games come from those years. My mother hated me playing games and wouldn’t let me have my own console, so I went to the arcades a lot when I was young and had to wait until I was older to buy my own video game consoles.
3. What was the first video game console that you owned?
The Famicom is the first I bought for myself, and I had it for many years and played it to death!
4. How did you get into the video games scene on Twitter?
I’m not very confident in my English skills (I needed to get help just to write this interview!) I always wanted to use Twitter to talk to people in other countries, but I didn’t join until the beginning of 2020. So I was on Twitter and Instagram for 3 years before anybody really noticed me. In one crazy week, I was talking to people and it suddenly got very busy very quickly.

I used to spend a lot of time writing all my posts carefully, but now I don’t care if I make mistakes. Too many people to talk with and I want to answer as much as I can. I think I can communicate well enough, even if it’s written badly. I don’t have time to worry about it!

Now it’s a much more interesting and fun place to hang out - but I spend way too much time on there lol! It is a little addictive and I burn my fingers off from typing haha.
5. What's your favourite video game of all time?
Even though it’s boring, I think Famicom Super Mario Bros. is still my all-time favourite game. It’s the one I played as a kid and still play all the time today. The second would be Contra on the Famicom. Both games remind me of my childhood. But thanks to my circle of gamer friends, I have been introduced to hundreds of games and know a lot about them. I can’t afford to buy most of them anymore, so thanks to emulation I have quite a lot of knowledge about game history.

I was too young to experience them when they first came out, but over the last ten years, I really went deep! I’m mainly interested in action games. I don’t really play RPGs or strategy games, and I don’t know anything about simulation or sports. I only like what I’m interested in, and I like shooting things!

6. What's your favourite console of all time?
The Famicom is still my favourite. I think you can guess the answer haha
7. What's your favourite arcade game of all time?
Oh so difficult. Probably Aliens vs Predator. It is the arcade game I have played the most, and even though I still can’t 1CC it (I try, but it is hard!) I still play it very often.

8. What's your favourite sandwich?
Tuna!
9. What's your favourite cuisine + Your Favourite Dish From That Cuisine?
Pork soup noodles are my whole life. Even though they make me fat and I need to stop eating them.
10. What's your favourite drink?
Coffee. Black coffee, hot, iced, lattes, from vending machines and coffee shops. I like to try different kinds. Recently, I had a strawberry latte with pink cream and almond flakes. It was great!
11. What current-generation video games do you play?
Honestly, not many! My interest is in 2D games and I do not do very well with 3D. I find them hard to control and that makes me frustrated. And sometimes they make me dizzy. However, the most recent would definitely be New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe and Super Mario 3D Land, which I played with friends and got all the stars. I have these on my Switch. And on the 3DS I did the same with New Super Mario Bros. 2.

12. Who's your fave person to follow on Twitter?
I cannot say that! I do not have a favourite. Everyone is very nice to me there and I have a lot of fun with them. But when I talked to The Top Loader and he let me do a dance competition video with him (he won!) that was a very special experience because that video was very popular. He helped me a lot. And also Colonel Falcon is the nicest guy with a green hat I have ever met. Everyone there seems to wear hats. It’s weird, but they are nice boys. I don’t like to wear hats. Maybe I should?
13. What's your favourite video game genre?
Action games 100%. I like to run, shoot, and jump. I will try any action game I can find at least one time. It’s like food for me, haha, I consume them! That’s why games like Shadow of the Ninja, Contra, Gunstar Heroes and Psychic Killer Taromaru are so exciting for me. But when I’m in the arcade I also like to play light gun games. I love horror and zombies so House of the Dead is one I play often. When I was young I played House of the Dead 2 a lot in the arcade and could get to the last boss on one coin - but he always killed me.

14. If you were a console, which one would you be and why?
A Super Famicom, because it’s very curvy and has a bright personality.

15. If you were going to do a Cosplay tomorrow, what would it be and why?
Well, probably Mai Shiranui, but I do not have the boobs for it. So I never tried her. I did wear a girl ninja cosplay that I put on my social media, but that one didn’t need boobs, just a big sword. I like the female Ninja style.
17. We love your awesome Twitter Video posts! what’s been your favourite video post to create?
Actually, they are all difficult for me to make and edit and I waste many hours cutting them because I have too much footage and I can get quite obsessive about things (I think I mentioned that already!). I often need to go into the arcade, and sometimes they don’t like people to film inside. They can be strange about it, which makes it hard. I think my favourite so far was probably Lunch with SuperSisi because the restaurant owner was very nice and let me film anything, and the place was so cute inside. And the lunch was delicious, so that helped me make good memories about it.
18. Where do our readers need to go to get involved with the world of Super SiSi?
SuperSisi, not Super SiSi! haha. Retro gaming fans can find me on:

I’m still working on my live streaming but I sometimes stream on TikTok if you’re interested in that. I’m a hardcore gamer girl, so prepare yourself: I will make fun of you!

Thank you so much for having me today.

I appreciate you being interested to talk and it was fun to do my first-ever interview.
