๐Ÿ Anguna: Scourge of the Goblin King | A Brand-New Action RPG For The NES! ๐Ÿ @6502Collective #GameDev #IndieGames

Share This Post On Share to Facebook Share to Twitter Share This Post On

Anguna: Scourge of the Goblin King is a brand-new action RPG, or A-RPG, for the original Nintendo (NES). Drawing clear inspiration from classics such as The Legend of Zelda (1987), Anguna also takes inspiration from forgotten games like Deadly Towers (1987).

The player must traverse the world in order to locate the Goblin King, a task that involves collecting items and power-ups along the way. Find ways to cross rivers, navigate rooms of darkness, and get past obstacles in the terrain. Anguna features real-time combat as the nameless hero squares off against lesser enemies and fearsome bosses, and culminates in a final battle with the Goblin King himself!

๐Ÿ’พ Lowtek Games | Interview With Alastair Low ๐Ÿ’พ @Wallmasterr #IndieGames #GameDev

I first became aware of Lowtek when I covered the Dreamcast version of Flea! Last year for The Mighty Games Freezer. I really enjoyed developer Ally Low’s genial personality and approach to not only the promotion of his game but also the updates of the upcoming title Tapeworm and so wanted to know more about Lowtek and its history. Who better to ask than the brains behind the operation!

๐Ÿ‘Ž Ploid | NES | Review | 4/10 | "It’s not very good " ๐Ÿ‘Ž @PixelHunted @NapeGames #Nes #IndieGames #GameDev

If you have a spare $400 you can buy a painting made by an elephant. With a brush clutched in its trunk, the elephant makes a couple of marks on a page which the gallery names things like “Banana Surprise” or “My Feather Boa”. It seems like a good racket and apparently, the elephants have fun.

But how do you evaluate an elephant’s painting?

Can you compare it with a human artist, or is the fact that an elephant has painted something worthy of praise in and of itself?

This is the conundrum presented by Nape Games’ Ploid, a new NES game that runs on original hardware.

Do I hold it next to other 2021 releases, review it as if it’d come out in 1988, or simply marvel that it exists at all?

๐ŸŽจ๐ŸŽฎ Badly Drawn Video Games Consoles - Cartridges ๐ŸŽจ๐ŸŽฎ #Retrogaming

Well here's more of my bad art as this time I use MS Paint to create an idea I had for an article on Video Games cartridges.

I'll probably use it as inspiration to draw these by hand.

Some days I find myself trying to draw stuff in MS Paint and those are the days when I manage to produce BADLY DRAWN VIDEO GAMES CONSOLES!

My plan is to draw as many badly drawn consoles as I can in 2021.

Let's see how far I get...

Well, I've gone and done something with my Mean Machines Magazine collection that I've always wanted to do but have never got round to doing until now.

For some reason, I wanted to catalogue all the reviews from Issue 0 to 24 so that if I ever need to refer to a physical edition of Mean Machines then I know exactly what issue I need to look at.

Yes it's nerdy and yes it is a bit silly but I think that it's something that you probably didn't realise you need but you do now!

๐ŸŽฎ๐ŸŽ„ The Best Video Games Console Christmas Presents From 1979 to 2001 ๐ŸŽฎ๐ŸŽ„ #Retrogaming #GamersUnite

So as we hurtle towards another Christmas in 2020 I thought it would be good to take a look at the best video games related Christmas presents from down the years.

These are either cool machines from when I was alive (I was born in 1979) or they are machines that I was lucky enough to get for Christmas.

My sister got a Pong machine in the early 80s for Christmas and I can barely remember it but after that Christmas, I was always eager for a Christmas video game or a console to be popped into my Christmas stocking.

There was the classic Christmas when I was desperate for a ZX Spectrum +2 but Dad got me an ATARI XEGS but I loved it!

Christmas is a great time for a gamer as you seem to get that bit of extra downtime to play your new games before your next helping of cold turkey in a roll.

Let's kick off our Christmas look by hurtling back in time to December 1979...

NES Cheat Codes were a staple feature of every single video games magazine from the '80s and '90s and some of these codes have been etched into the brains of gamers from the era.

I recently received a new notebook from my wife as she knows my love of writing in notebooks. After receiving this present I decided that this notebook's sole purpose would be for me to doodle different video games inspired pieces of art on every page.

⚔️ 5 Simple Things That Make Breath Of The Wild Special ⚔️

Share This Post On Share to Facebook Share to Twitter Share This Post On

The Legend Of Zelda Breath Of The Wild is an amazing video game that many people have written the virtues of on various websites and magazine outlets all over the world.

It’s a game that has won over the older hardcore Zelda generation and won some new Zelda fans in 2017.

I’ve always followed Zelda from afar as I never owned a Nintendo until the Super Nes in 1992 and then I mainly played Mario games and various sports games with mates.

At the age of 12 I was just never that into playing a solo video game like Zelda.

As Christmas draws nearer my mind always wanders back to when I was at school and constantly talking football and video games as the Christmas holiday came closer and closer.

My talk would always be of the video games or video game consoles or computers that I wanted from Santa that year.

It would vary from year to year and there always seemed to be something to get excited about in the world  of video games before Christmas.

☆ Retro Review: Darkwing Duck - “When there’s trouble, you call DW!” ☆ #Retrogaming

I hate that I never knew about this game when I was a kid, because it might have rivaled Duck Tales for me as a top platformer.
The show only ran from 1991-1992, but it remains the cartoon I revisit the most from the Disney Afternoon—other than Gargoyles possibly—to this day.
I didn’t actually find out about Drake Mallard starring in his own game until looking into emulation many years later, and I just recently acquired my own physical copy of this game after some searching and patience.
There were rumors of a new version of the duck defender for years, but he will finally make his triumphant return in the new DuckTales cartoon it seems, which means it is as good a time as any to type this one up!

☆ My Most Memorable Video Game Level Types - Water, Ice, Desert & Sky ☆ #Retrogaming

Share This Post On Share to Facebook Share to Twitter Share This Post On

In all of video gaming history, there has been an unwritten rule that every video game known to man must contain a Water Level, An Ice/Snow/Winter Level, A Desert Level and A Sky Level.

I've played many games over the years and for each of these level types I have experienced a fair few variants of these levels.

Today I'd like to present to you my most memorable versions of each of these level types.

When I find myself with uninterrupted time to play video games I always find myself returning to my old classics, games I’ve played hundreds of times even when I have new games not even opened from their wrapping waiting to be played on the latest consoles.

Although I do love new games they just don’t excite me like the old ones.

Is it an age thing?

Is it the memories the games release hidden in the depths of my subconscious or are they just better more enjoyable games?

In an age where we are surrounded by phone apps and websites that promote real money gambling, I have recently been thinking about the more innocent times when digital gambling was only represented by casino type gambling games on video games systems like the SEGA Master System.

☆ The SNES Mini Video Games Wishlist ☆ #Retrogaming

Share This Post On Share to Facebook Share to Twitter Share This Post On
As the NES Classic production reaches an abrupt end, everyone in video games is left scratching their heads trying to work out why the heck Nintendo pulled the plug?!

The NES Mini / Classic had all the hallmarks of a barnstorming video games console success.

It was selling out in seconds as soon as stock came through the door and even into April it was still on a lot of gamers wish lists.

Fuelled by the end of NES Mini production the rumours of a SNES Classic by Nintendo are reaching a fever pitch and everyone’s favourite video games discussion at this moment in time is

“Which games will be included in the inevitable follow-up to the NES Classic?”
