Games Freezer Interviews: Pirate PR
Games Freezer Interviews: Pirate PR!

Over the years, I’ve had many an email exchange with various PR companies, developers and publishers. Recently, Pirate PR have become somewhat of a Twitter / X highlight for me, as the man behind the machine – Robby Bisschop – has been incredibly open with advice and tips for game developers, as well as dedicating his time to exposing scammers, sharing his experiences for all to learn from.

He is very active on his channel (@PR_Pirate) and I thought it would be fun to learn more about the man, the myth…the pirate.

So get comfortable, and pop open a rum as we set sail across the seas of gaming.

Debug Magazine Review " a brand-new publication focused exclusively on indie games" 📖 @debugorg #IndieGames

Share This Post On Share to Facebook Share to Twitter Share This Post On

We at GF HQ have always been big supporters of indie games, and so when I first caught wind of Debug magazine, the thought of having a print magazine specifically dedicated to indie games across all systems was of an incredible appeal to me, I was keener than Robbie, Roy, and Steve combined.

Having received the inaugural issue recently,  I’m happy to report that this really does feel very much like THE indie directory, featuring not only news articles, previews and reviews of upcoming/imminent games, but also interviews with developers, publishers-  and features some really neat design touches that make devouring Debug an absolute pleasure.

WAVE Game Studios are the publishers behind Senile Team’s Intrepid Izzy, a brand new Dreamcast game that was very well received at GF HQ (https://www.gamesfreezer.co.uk/2021/07/intrepid-izzy-dreamcast-review-910-im.html?m=1) and they recently - and impressively - travelled the width and breadth of the UK in a bid to spread the word of Intrepid Izzy far and wide.

Taking time out of their mile-crushing schedule to talk to us at Games Freezer, we took the opportunity to get to the heart of this extremely hands-on and quite frankly, impressively gruelling mission.

🖳💣 Anonymous Game Dev's Story: "Hard Work & Review Bombing" 💣🖳 #GameDev #IndieGames

Share This Post On Share to Facebook Share to Twitter Share This Post On
Dark Blue Monkey talks with an Indie Team about their experience of going through Kickstarter, being a boss, releasing on Steam, and why they’ll never ever do it again.

Our guest today went through the full Indie Dev experience;  working full time, doing a Kickstarter campaign, hiring a developer, and then finally releasing onto Steam.

While this may seem like the ultimate dream for most of us, unfortunately for the team the experience proved to be far from the utopia we imagine it to be. Just as their project reached fruition,  they fell victim to the now infamous review bombing while the game was still in early release, still at launch price.

Trying to do the right thing, they tried to sidestep the clunkiness of Steam’s forums and help players directly who were having problems by giving them access to Skype and email.  This resulted in mounting numbers of unpleasant messages following them into the real world. For this reason, they’ve chosen to share their experience anonymously.

This is a tale of caution, and hopefully will help any aspiring indie developers to avoid the same pitfalls.

When it comes to video games, most look to the graphics to determine if a game is playable or not and if it’s likely to be entertaining or not.

However, there are many other video games that do not just impress when it comes to graphics but whose impressiveness transcends to the soundtracks as well.

The following are such kind of games and they are accessible from NetBet Casino for those who want to try them and see if they are indeed the real deal.

VIVE LE ROI - PC

Vive Le Roi is a stealth puzzle video game created by Sylvain Seccia

There aren’t too many games set during the French Revolution which sets this game apart from others of its ilk, it is also a port of a mobile game and although the stripped back gameplay does show its mobile roots, lovers of stealth puzzle games shouldn’t be put off as this is a solid little title.

Can I save King Louis XVI?

Will my knowledge of French history improve?

Why did the executioner get offered the job when he clearly suffers from narcolepsy?

Let’s find out.
