As with the previous Gulikit controllers that I’ve covered, the packaging and delivery were faultless, with the box containing:
- 1 x GuliKit TT Max Controller (with pre-installed TMR Joysticks and 4-way/8-way D-pad)
- 1 x Form-fit Plastic Carrying Case
- 1 x HyperLink 2 Wireless Adapter (2.4G dongle)
- 1 x Extra D-pad Set (Interchangeable, often called "Saturn style" or different shape)
- 1 x Extra Stick Cap Kit (Different height options, exclusive to the Max model)
- 1 x Back Button Set (4 metal back buttons)
- 1 x Xbox-style Button Cap Kit (For ABXY layout swapping)
- 1 x Tension Adjustment Tool
- 1 x Charging Cable (USB-C)
The contents included with the TT MAX are pretty involved, allowing you to switch out everything from the tension and height of the thumbsticks and buttons, to adding extra metal paddles on the back for more control and personalisation options.
The interchangeable D-pad is also a boon, I personally opted for the more classic style, but again – when I have other players around for some local multiplayer action, it’s a pleasure to be able to basically hand them the box and let them choose their preferred setup, like I’m opening the gaming controller version of a drinks cabinet. In use, the controller feels robust and well-designed, with the matte and subtle hand-grips ensuring that the TT MAX feels secure in your hands, and the subtlety of the colour scheme used – shades of grey, with lilac fascia buttons – means that this isn’t a showy controller, but more understated, and fixated on practicality with its sense of individuality more ‘behind the scenes’ in the amount of tweaks you can make to the setup as opposed to RGB lighting, etc.
The battery life is also impressive, with around thirty hours of game time – dependent on how fiercely you setup the rumble – and extremely low drain when in sleep mode. I can’t express how refreshing this is compared to the PS5 controllers that I’ve been using over Christmas, I honestly think I’ve spent more time charging them than paying the actual games with them.
I’ve stored some controllers away recently that didn’t get enough use and kept our family / friend favourites to hand, and I have to say that the TT MAX tends to be the one that I personally gravitate towards for its comfort, versatility, design and reliability.
Also included in the box is a Hyperlink 2, a dongle that is compatible with myriad controllers and reduces latency by up to 50% when compared to standard Bluetooth.
