NACON RIG 400 GEN2 HS
The first thing you notice when unboxing the headset is how striking the camo design is, the colours match the PS5 and result in a nice visual parallel. The Arctic Camo is a PlayStation edition, but there is also another edition - Urban Camo - which is designed for Xbox consoles.  The headset works with most consoles (PS5,PS4,Xbox and Switch) and PC so you can pick up either design, it doesn't just have to match the console, maybe if you are in the middle of the Antarctic you would pick the Arctic Edition and if you’re in the middle of a concrete jungle you can pick up the Urban Camo edition...or maybe just pick whichever design you like most.

For the modest price of the headset, I thought it might be a bit flimsy but to my surprise it was very sturdy and definitely could take a fair amount of use and maybe even some angry removals when you concede a late goal in the last few minutes of a FIFA match, or you die for the fifteenth time in a tense boss fight.

I have never seen the Snap Fit system before, you adjust the headset using three slots in which you can attach the earpads and click them in position to secure them, I liked the system and found it easy to adjust and find what is most comfortable, although the one downside with Snap Fit is that, when gaming you can’t easily change position if it does become uncomfortable, but I liked the Snap Fit design so will take this small negative. The earpads are very soft and have a memory foam cushion so wearing them for a long time never gets uncomfortable and can be worn for those long gaming sessions.

The sound quality is fairly tasty, for the price I think the 40mm drivers do a decent job with the directional audio - the sound coming from both earpads is clear, but it is a bit limited with regard to the bass and treble ranges, when some loud noises happened in-game there was a touch of distortion but overall, I think the sound quality is good enough. I’m not convinced by the way that you adjust the volume, a small wheel is on the left earpad, and it’s in a bit of an awkward spot. Sometimes whilst gaming it would move slightly,  such as when I moved my shoulder and caught it, it’s not the biggest deal but worth mentioning. The mute function is extremely practical, you just flip the mic up and it auto-mutes, I really liked this and found it super convenient and strangely enjoyable, there is something about flipping things up and down that gives me a primal enjoyment. The mic is satisfactory, clear audio could always be heard and I never had any negative feedback when I gamed, people could always hear me clearly, so that's a real plus. The headset is very easy to use  -just plug in and you’re ready for action, you have a 1.2 metre cable which is long enough. The box includes your usual manual and quick start guide, the headset is nicely secured in the packaging.

For the price I think the NACON RIG 400 GEN2 HS is worth it, being wired isn't a problem and though you can spend more and get 50mm drivers, I felt the clarity of both audio and mic mean this is a solid purchase and does the job it needs to do.
