Having first noticed this Indie Zombie Survival Game on The Dead Years FaceBook Page We Fell In Love With The Style Of This Game Immediately.

 

Then we found out that it's actually an Open World Zombie Survival Horror Game and that got us intrigued even more.....as we can't get enough of Open World games that just ooze atmosphere.....

 

So we went in search of more info to wet our appetite.......

Here's what we have found out so far....

Dead Years is an zombie survival game that takes place six months after the Zombie outbreak. 

You are cast as one of the remaining survivors of the outbreak.

You will be exploring the wastelands with man's best friend ,your faithful dog!

Essentially the game will consist of Exploring & Scavenging all in the name of Survival. 

There will be hundreds of beautiful locations to discover much like the amazing screenshots attached.

The open world element will see you walking along abandoned highways, going downtown in all sorts of cities aswell as exploring the zombie infested countryside IF YOU DARE! 

We absolutely love the graphic novel style graphics from the screenshots we have seen so far, it really seems to add to the atmosphere.....we are guessing that The Walking Dead has been an inspiration here.....What Do You Think?

Of course you will need Ammunitions, Canned Food and Weapons and they will have to be scavenged for in order to survive in the deadly zombie infested wastelands. 

A cool feature of the game is the ability to actually craft your own armour with the materials you can find which will help you survive any Zombie attack (assuming your home-made armour is up to the task!)

So where does Fido come into this? Your dog is part of your survival team. He's a canny partner and he knows how to go toe to toe (Paw to Flakey Limb) with those vicious zombies!  He’s your secret weapon in this daily fight to survive as he's quick, stealthy, & deadly.  You'll also get the opportunity level him up through skill trees available just for your Pooch. You'll get to teach him the abilities you think will be most valuable in your quest to survive. You can make the choice as to whether he's an attack dog who fights at your side or maybe you will opt to train him as a stealth assassin who will take out the enemies without being detected. The key to this relationship is that you will work together in order to survive each day in the Deadly Environment Of Dead Years.

The Dead Years Team are tirelessly working on this project and will be releasing more info as time goes on, we just can't wait to see what the next batch of screenshots and features will look like and we just can't wait to get our hands on this beauty!

Have you ever wondered what video games sights there are to see around the world?

We Love discovering new sights from different countries and we have just unearthed a beauty of a Video Games and Computers Museum to visit in the beautiful country of Croatia.

 

PEEK&POKE was actually Opened in 2007, and is one of the few permanent displays of vintage / retro computing technology in Europe!

The museum is Located in the centre of the city of Rijeka and spread across 300m2 of space.

 

The museum contains more than 1000 exhibits of world and local computer history, ranging from video games consoles to ultra rare computers from the last few decades.

The museum also contains an expansive library of books and magazines from the bygone era of consoles and computers

The museum is the main driving force behind PEEK&POKE and it attracts many numbers of visitors from Croatia and further afield. 

The majority of the museum is taken up by exhibits which are presented in an interesting and interactive way.

Most of the exhibits are actually operational and you are encouraged to get involved by actually trying them out in order to experience the past just like you may or may not remember from your own childhood years!

There are many items to put on display , so usually there will be something new to see every time you come to PEEK&POKE

In order to make your visit a worthwhile one you are required to book in advance.

 

When you book a visit, PEEK&POKE will organize an expert guide to tell you the story of computer history and also to answer all the questions you might have on the subject.

Take a look at some of the rare and interesting items on display in the PEEK&POKE Museum, these are enough to make you want to make the trip to Croatia to take it all in!

In a recent article we covered our pick of the Top 5 Video Games Related  Kickstarter Campaigns that are active at the moment and one that really caught our eye and got the creative juices flowing was UnEarth Initiative

 

So we decided to dig a little deeper inside this one and give it it's very own feature....

What Is The UnEarth Initiative? 

This beauty of a game is a science fiction video game created by veteran developers of the awesome Playstation 2 Ratchet & Clank series. 

This cool 3D Sim mixes a sense of humor and character with the gameplay of building and exploration on a previously undiscovered mysterious planet. 

The game is set in the 31st century, Earth is coping with overpopulation by sending its least desirable citizens on a poorly budgeted colonization program in outer space (probably sending them via Ryan Air)

After crash landing at the destination planet, the colonists you control set out to explore and survive on an brand new alien world full of danger and excitement.

This is where the trouble starts as it's not easy managing a rag tag crew of crooks and social outcasts.....

The key is therefore managing to band these delinquents together into a team and overcome their lesser points it is only then you will be able to build a successful colony.

 

What Gameplay Features Can We Expect?

The UnEarth Initiative is to feature randomized planet terrain, creatures, and plant-life. 

Players will need to master balancing their valuable time between building a secure base for their colonists, and sending out exploration teams who will search for new plants and creatures. 

Just imagine how cool it will be to Build elaborate underground bases for your colony!

In order to throw in another factor there will be the building of relationships with other alien races to manage so you'll get the opportunity to meet bizarre aliens and establish long-term trading relationships or unleash bloody feuds!

As-well as this you'll get to manage the personality quirks of your own colonists. 

There will also be random events, such as invading alien garden pests or a good old space plague!

One of the most exciting things about this game are your only real allies in survival, Man's Best Friend, the faithful "Rovots"

The cool thing about these little rascals is that colonists can undertake in game programming of the Rovots to serve their every need! 

Once programmed you can share your programs with other players to let others know what cool things you have got your Rovots doing....sounds brilliant!

How did UnEarth come about then?

UnEarth was first conceived a year ago, by Lesley Mathieson. 

She talked Peter Hastings into coding a quick demo of it, and the project has snowballed from there into a full-featured game in a matter of months!
