🎧 Gioteck TX50 Headset & VP1 Viper Cable Pack Review 🎧 @GioteckArmy #GamerHeadsetReview

Regular GF contributor Lee Manuel recently positively reviewed two other headsets from Gioteck, the HC2 Decal Edition and the XH100S - https://www.gamesfreezer.co.uk/2021/01/headset-review-gioteck-hc2-decal.html – this, combined with the positive experiences that I have had with their controllers, mean that Gioteck is fast becoming the go-to brand at GF HQ for affordable accessories that don’t sacrifice quality. Good.

The TX50 is a robust headset that comes in a variety of colours, including specific PS5 (white/blue) and Xbox Series X (green/black) schemes and is also equipped with the below features:

  • All-over tactile rubber finish
  • 50mm high-impact drivers
  • Robust build quality
  • Alacantra cushioning
  • Push/pull instant mute

The version I was sent for review was the Xbox Series X green & black colour scheme and straight out of the box I was impressed. It feels chunky in the hands and the cushioning felt soft to the touch, the subtle green lines across black are also sleek and minimalist, good.

Whilst reviewing these, I played multiple game sessions in 5-hour chunks and was completely comfortable the whole time. The headset feels flexible and isn’t too ‘huggy’ or tight, the only minor niggle I had was that the connection to the headset underneath the left ear-cup occasionally poked me in the shoulder when I lay on my side and drooped my head but admittedly that is a specific scenario to be in! Also, it just illustrates the solid build quality of the connection.

The diamond-shaped cups are ergonomic and comfortable (I have a large head and ears - thanks for bringing it up - so it’s a good stress test for the product) but how did it fare in terms of audio quality?

Well, as the Aztecs used to say, ‘extremely well’. I was actually a little bit blown away by the clarity and crispness of the stereo and volume management, especially at this price-point.

The mic is on a flexible boom which (from the comments of other players) was perfectly clear and the flick-to-mute button and volume controls were easy to use.

VP1 Viper cable pack

I’ve never been asked to review cables before and, until I’d opened the box and laid eyes on the beautiful USB C cable here, I wasn’t sure which angle to take in this review.

The pack consists of a 2.1 HDMI cable which provides 8K at 60Hz and 4K at 120Hz with 48Gbps bandwidth as well as a USB C cable with 24k-plated Viper connector heads and a 3-metre, white nylon-braided cable.

Whilst both cables look great and the HDMI works flawlessly, it was the USB C that really grabbed me. I didn’t realise how flimsy and short all of my existing USB C cables were (including the one that came with the Xbox Series X) until I had this baby in my ‘Julian Sands’*.

As someone who is lucky enough to have a spacious living room in which the console is housed, I didn’t realise how awkward it would be for me if I ran out of batteries during a gaming session as all my existing USB C cables just wouldn’t reach anywhere near my sofa, this Viper cable solved a problem that I didn’t even know I had.

I also have a cat and the fact that the cable is well-protected, firm but flexible and contains enough slack to not be pulled taut across the coffee table is a huge bonus so my feline friend (Bukowski) isn’t at risk, awesome!
