Who Wants To See Some 8 Bit Retro Gamer Video Games Wonders?

The Guts Of A Commodore 64?

What about a portable C64?

What About a Commodore Amiga 4000 cut open for a tricky and delicate Repair?

The Future Was 8 Bit is a great website that acts as a personal insight into the world of someone who loves resurrecting retro computers back from the dead.

Here's a bit of an insight into the person who runs the site, he or she sounds like our kind of person!

"As I spend far too much of my time saving old computer tat from landfill, it was inevitable that I'd throw together some sort of website to show all 3 of you what I do.

You just can't beat the old 8bit machines.... Keeping them alive can be as addictive as keeping vintage cars on the road, but with less rust, unless its a Commodore Pet.

If you've got an old sick computer that you'd like to resurrect, drop me a line!

You'll also notice, that I have a slight leaning towards Commodore machines..

But I still find time to fiddle with all manner of other makes and models of vintage computers....

Back Story... Shortly after the earth cooled...
My first computer was a Vic-20, second was an Amstrad PCW8256 (took it back a week later tho, third was a C128 (yay!).. The list went on and on.. Till I finally switched from Amiga 4000 to PC permanently..ish

Thanks to being a bit mental, and a thing called ebay.. I have managed to fill my house with all kinds of vintage computer greatness.."

Just take a look at The MY COLLECTION Tab and you will see the vast array of vintage goodness on display, it's a great collection of lovingly looked after legendary computers.

Our personal favourite though is the fully functional C64p which is an absolute treat.....imagine if you will a Commodore 64 Netbook Sized Laptop!!

It has to be seen to be believed.....absolutely marvellous!

Don't just take our word for it, head over to The Future Was 8 Bit NOW to see for yourself the wonderful array of marvellous computer wares on offer.....

Wouldn't You Love To Own The C64 Portable?

The Chimps At Play Team Are A Real COOL Bunch Of Dudes And We Wanted To Let You Know What They Are All About..........

So Read On Friends....READ ON!

The Chimps At Play Team Had This To Say About All That Is "CHIMPS AT PLAY"

"I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself.....
My name is Paul “The Giant” Morris and my associate and co founder of Chimps At Play goes by the name of Karl “Fazza” Farrell

Together, we created Chimps At Play – an entertainment reviewing company specialising in video games, music, movies and comedy.

Imagine, if you will, journalism but with humour.
Essentially, Chimps At Play is an online magazine (or e-zine) aimed at, but not exclusive to, the 18-25 year old demographic.

GamesFreezer

We use social media to interact with our followers and subscribers, and we are currently developing a website which will bring all of our Facebook, Twitter and YouTube content together in one place, as well as offering an online outlet for our Chimps At Play merchandise.

We ask for feedback from fans in most things we do, and the website will be no exception.

We want this to be just as much the fans website as it is ours.
Aside from myself and Fazza, we have four “content creators” who upload a mixture of news stories and articles they have created themselves.

These are staggered throughout the day so that there is a constant feed for our fans.

The news stories and updates that we post, pertaining to the gaming industry, are almost always exclusives.
We are also always looking to support indie developers.
Chimps At Play was created in April 2013 and in the short time since, we have significantly increased our viewership.

This can be evidenced by the amount of interaction and likes on our Facebook page, Our Twitter followers and our YouTube subscribers."

☆Website Of The Day "Internet Archive"☆ #RetroGaming #GamersUnite

After watching the brilliant Documentary Film "Get Lamp" by Jason Scott Sadofsky we were curious about his research and decided to take a look at one of the websites that he gave thanks to in the end credits.

The Internet Archive is a non-profit website that is looking to build a digital library of Internet sites and other cultural artifacts. It provides free access to all sorts of cool stuff.

We were of course interested in searching through the Software Repository section that is contained within the site.

It covers a whole multitude of different retrogaming systems and some PC Classics.

Not only does it contain a whole host of information on the systems and games it also enables you to legally download some of the games.

Within the software section you are able to visit the "Historical Software Collection"

This section contains selected historically important software packages from the Internet Archives. It utilises in-browser emulators and you are able to try out these historical pieces of software without the additional burdens of installing emulator software.

The next section that you can spend hours in is the "Classic PC Games" Section where you can take a step back in time and play some of the coolest DOS and Windows games from yesteryear. The collection is constantly growing and evolving, so keep checking back on this one and fire up your Dos Box!

The next interesting section for you to get your Geek On is the "ShareWare CD Archive"

"One of the most historically important artifacts to come from the home computer telecommunications revolution was shareware CDs, compact discs put out by companies containing hundreds of megabytes of shareware. Initially containing less than the full capacity of the discs (600mb, later 700mb) these items eventually began brimming with any sort of computer data that could be packaged and sold."

Finally, the section that held our interest the most had to be "The Console Living Room"

This beauty of a RetroGaming section holds over 1000 items and covers most of the earliest systems such as Atari 2600, Magnavox Odyssey etc.

It also enables you to run the game in browser with some really cool emulator software to get a taste for how these cool systems ran the games.

Before we go and let you discover all this great stuff for yourselves, why don't you also check out "The Old School Emulation Center"

This really is a jewel in the crown of the "Internet Archive" every conceivable system is covered and all this is backed up by a TOSEC site that is maintained by our new fave director Jason Scott Sadofsky.......

A nice piece of symmetry to end our excited article with.....

Now go to The Internet Archive and immerse your brains in all the retrogaming glory you can find!

Let us know how you get on
