A couple of months ago, I covered the very cool Gulikit Elves 2 Pro Controller, and here we are covering their new Elves 2 controller, which is available now from Amazon!

In terms of shape and feel, there isn’t much distinction between the two - both being of high quality – but there’s a lot going on under the proverbial bonnet, which I’ll highlight below. The main visual difference is that they come in different styles, for instance, the Elves 2 Pro comes in black and Japanese Sega Saturn-style form, whereas the Elves 2 comes in black, or coral – which really stands out for me.

Both controllers also come with an included cover, which I personally find incredibly useful, especially if you store your controllers in a drawer, or travel with them a lot, I can’t express how it keeps them from being knocked around and damaged when not in use, I wish this was an industry standard!

GuliKit continue to produce controller at an extremely high level of quality that scratch that retro itch whilst being affordable, all the while sporting modern convenience, it’s a 100% record of thumbs up for their products here at GF!

PowerA Advantage Xbox Wired Controller - Fortnite Midas 🎮 @PowerA

Hot on the heels of our previous coverage of the PowerA Core Blush a little while back, we now take a look at the PowerA Fortnite Midas, a wired controller that makes an extremely stylish first impression.

Feeling similar to the Core Blush in how it fits in the hand, the first thing that struck me about the Midas was how it looked; the shiny detailing in the handprints, webs, skulls and flowers popping out from the matte plastic, and the ridged back of the controller providing grip for lengthier, more intense playing sessions.

The triggers are designed to be less spongy, shallower on the press than the official controller, so there’s a sense of snappiness in their use, giving more of an arcade vibe and a sense of quicker reaction time. This aspect is also adjustable, using the trigger locks on the rear to fine tune your experience.

I’ve covered a fair few controllers for the Nintendo Switch here at GF, and I find myself rotating between a few old favourites every now and again, but the arrival of the Boo Hoo controller has thrown things into disarray here at the Welsh branch of GF HQ, and I found myself becoming quite entranced with it during usage, and it has now become my ‘go to’ controller when gaming on the Switch.

Pros:

• Versatility: Multi-platform support is a huge plus.

• Customization: The Interactive LCD screen and programmable buttons offer a lot of flexibility.

• Hall Effect: Hall Effect Joystick and Hall Linear Trigger is a big plus!

• Price: At £71 / $69.99, it’s a solid deal for what you get.

Cons:

• Build Quality: While sturdy, it doesn’t feel as premium as some competitors.

• Button Feel: The clicky buttons might not be everyone’s cup of tea.

• Start & Select Placement is slightly odd (at the bottom of the controller)

Overall, the Manba One Controller is a fantastic option for gamers looking for versatility and customization without breaking the bank. It’s not perfect, but it offers a lot of bang for your buck

NACON MG-X Pro Controller | Review By Max (and a bit of Britt) | "The Phat Controller" 🎮 @Nacon

September 2021 was a different time. I mean, obviously, it was. All times that aren’t NOW are a different time. Even the start of this paragraph exists at a different point in time to this word here. Time that is so precious and yet I have wasted valuable seconds for both of us in trying to explain a point that is irrelevant to what follows.

And this is partly because I am a big fan of a nonsensical opening to a review and partly because (for reasons that will become apparent) the bulk of the review itself is not very long.

Back to September 2021. It was a time of lockdowns and consequently opportunities to indulge in al fresco Xbox gaming were not plentiful.

Despite this, I gave a score of 9/10 to the NACON MG-X, an Android controller that basically turned your phone into a mini Xbox.

It was a solid product that delivered on its promise and though I mainly used it sat on my sofa, I could see the potential for use in the great outdoors (internet connection permitting…)
