🏍️Hell Road VR - Shooting Range on Wheels

Hard rock, a muscle bike, a powerful revolver and a road through a desert full of living dead - what could be cooler?

Only if you personally find yourself riding an iron horse.

We present to your attention Hell Road VR - a road adventure with zombies and cool guns in VR!

What is this game about?

Hell Road VR is a shooter and motorcycle simulator in one. The protagonist of the game is a tough biker who sets out on a trip across the post-apocalyptic desert. A sun-hot wind hits your face, loudspeakers rip apart guitar riffs, there is a crowd of dead people on the road ahead, and you bristle with an improvised glaive like a cavalry spear and firmly hit the gas hard.

You control the motorcycle, of course, while sitting, tilting the body in the right direction. The left hand is responsible for movement and reverse, which somehow itself reaches for the steering wheel, although there is no need for this. And the hero holds a weapon in his right hand. Fortunately, to reload, it is enough to roll out the drum or discard the clip, and the magazine will fill itself very quickly.

A limited amount of time is allotted for the passage of the road section. The lives of a biker are also not endless and it is strongly discouraged to let the undead get close to you. Just above the speedometer is the kill counter, which encourages players to calm as many walkers as possible. If you successfully complete the race or die, the earned points will remain with you.

In the garage there is a workshop where the souls of the dead who were sent to hell are exchanged for upgrades for the bike, weapon, or the hero himself. From there, you can continue your journey through the serpentine campaign, challenge yourself in an endless race through the desert with increasing difficulty, or take part in seasonal events. Once you've proven yourself worthy of a mention, the game will add your callsign to the overall leaderboard.

What I like about the game

The game has excellent graphics. The motorcycle looks solid, the body model does not interfere with the view, and the roadside landscape is constantly changing. You move through settlements and deserted roads, rush through the night on highways, thunder your engine in tunnels, it happens that you use bypass routes, descend into canyons and gorges. By today's standards, the picture looks decent and, perhaps, is on the same level as the Arizona Sunshine or modern gambling simulators at the best online casino site Casinonic.

The hero has a cool arsenal of weapons. It all starts with a standard pistol, but on your course to genocide of undead armies you will get glaive, chainsaw, drills and other equipment which you can mount on your bike. Subsequently, a revolver, a shotgun, a submachine gun and even a grenade launcher will appear. And all this splendor, excluding the base weapon, can be modified.

The gameplay is very pleasing. The bike is easy to control, but shooting at monsters on the go and keeping an eye on the road is a real challenge, which you nevertheless accept with joy. With a very well-crafted driving model, a variety of situations that Hell Road throws you, and atmospheric slow-mo on the trampolines, you feel like a real king of the road.

What I don’t like about the game

During the day, the laser pointer is very difficult to discern on the tops of enemies. The little red dot would be a great help in any VR shooter, but it's very awkward to aim with it on the go. You can’t change the color of the laser sight or thickness of the ray.

There is no two-handed grip in the game. Why is it needed? There are situations on the road when the biker has to turn off the engine and take up arms seriously. The hand with the weapon gets very tired during the game and when you stop, you involuntarily grab the gun with both hands. Unfortunately, this is fraught with accidental clicks on the "reset position" button (in Oculus it is inconveniently located on the trigger), and does not affect the rider's accuracy in any way. I remember the time playing at a live casino online where you could accidentally place the undesired bet due to bad controls. I feel the same in Hell Road VR. It’s ok, but could be much better.

Should you buy it?

If you like adrenaline shooters, definitely yes. There is not much games made for VR devices which are really great and can be considered as revolutionary. The only such representative is Half-Life Alyx. All other VR games is just an interesting gimmick. I hope that soon everything will change and we will see more projects like Half-Life Alyx.
