Creepy Redneck Dinosaur Mansion 3 Xbox Series X Review
I had no idea what to expect when I was installing Creepy Redneck Dinosaur Mansion 3, but it very quickly became apparent that I was going to love it.

A hybrid game that blends traditional Match 3 style gameplay with light horror-comedy elements in a setting that becomes very meta very quickly, it initially feels like a hodgepodge of ideas on paper that somehow works surprisingly well together in practicality!
Creepy Redneck Dinosaur Mansion 3 Xbox Series X Review
With hand-drawn visuals and a catchily spooky soundtrack, Creepy Redneck Dinosaur Mansion 3 puts you in the role of an agent making his way through a mansion, solving Match 3 puzzles as he goes, it’s not just endless fights, though – the puzzle mechanics are used for a variety of situations, from opening gates through to feeding dinosaurs, with the shapes changing their use as you play, pink triangles will heal you if you collect enough, whereas blue squares may allow a power-up attack, your combat skills bolstered by unlockable abilities as well as the items that you find along the way, or purchase from the in-game shop.

Creepy Redneck Dinosaur Mansion 3 is pretty consistently amusing, with the protagonist’s thriftiness and sheer terror levels reached tickling me throughout my time with the game. After a while, it becomes clear that the game gets more and more meta, which stops the pretty zany tale from getting staid as it escalates ever further from the tracks. Kudos also to the composer, whose soundtrack suits the bonkers action perfectly.

SUMMARY
The most fun I’ve had with Match 3 since Metropolis: Lux Obscura back in 2017, the sense of humour and light-hearted style perfectly ‘matches’ the game mechanics, a great twist in a genre that can be pretty standard and functional…I just need to wait for Creepy Redneck Dinosaur Mansion 5 now.

8/10
