Glitch was once a gorgeously designed online game that oozed character and set itself apart from many of the other online games out there.

Launched in 2010 it didn't drum up enough users to make it viable to continue and therefore shut its doors on its community in 2012.

In a totally unselfish move Tiny Speck have relinquished the ownership of the game assets and have made all assets available to use in the Public Domain.

This means that developers, artists, bloggers and all manner of Joe public will get the chance to browse and use the assets that were lovingly created throughout the game's 2 year + life-cycle 


“This is probably the biggest release of art of this type into the public domain and we hope it will be a valuable resource for indie developers, students, artists and even commercial projects,”

So in honour of this Super Cool gesture by Tiny Speck we would like to showcase some of the best artwork we located within the online repository, get your Games Freezer eyes on this little lot!

If you play a lot of Retrogames like we do it just feels right if you are grasping an arcade stick rather than a joypad.

 

We've always liked the idea of building our own custom joystick and now we can thanks to the cool guide from The Adafruit Learning System

GO PAC! GO!

If you don't have the cash to splash on a snazzy Mad Catz one then this is the guide for you. 

This Arcade Stick is so cool it lets it connects wirelessly to your PC via a Bluetooth connection.

The engine room of the stick is the Bluefruit Bluetooth HID Keyboard Controller, which enables you to set up the stick as a Bluetooth keyboard . 

The Arcade Stick casing is our favourite part as it uses a simple walnut box that's sold on Amazon. The box is just the right size to fit all of the components  inside and looks pretty darn stylish too when you see the finished article above.

Once finished the whole thing looks great!

Yes it's completely wireless, and can be paired to all sorts of bluetooth devices.

Meaning you can play your retro games on whatever device you choose.

Cool stuff eh! We want to go one step further with ours and create a Games Freezer stick that is painted white with The Freezer popping up on the front, so watch this space for the results of our attempt at this Retrogaming Stick Of Beauty.......

Those COOL chaps at Quantum Sheep have been busy building the latest "Air Supply" game and this time The Games Freezer has come along for the ride!

"SAM IS BACK!"

Let's hear from the Quantum Sheep Gang To Find Out From Them:

"Sam is back, this time running round whole planets, trying to get to ‘The Void’ where he can pick up an Infinity Cup!

Gameplay is simple. 

The basics are:

• Jump over aliens.
• Tap anywhere to jump.
• Double tap to activate a Smart Bomb (I think, therefore I am).
• Don’t forget your AIR IS RUNNING OUT!

There are unlocks a-go-go, and an awesome soundtrack by that genius Yerzmyey, who writes his music on retro computers....
(the tracks were written on a ZX Spectrum/ZX81 with an AY chip).

The hope is that this one will be a universal build, with GameCenter leaderboards and achievements"
