Hell warders - PC
Welcome to Hell....Warders, a basic tower defence game with decent graphics and not so decent gameplay. Hell Warders is in very early alpha so I hope that a lot of the issues with the game will be cleared up shortly, as of now, it's just not anything special.

This game looks great, there's no ifs, ands, or buts. It's kind of like a slimmed down look of Dark Souls, just not as pristine. In my opinion, that's about all it has going for it at this stage of its early access.

You begin the game in a tutorial explaining how to set your basic defences, and also your basic controls for your character. You can choose to be a Knight with a sword, a Gunman with a shotgun, or a Technician with bombs.

No matter who you pick you have to rely on collecting orbs littered throughout the battlefield to set your defences, which consist of a line of pikemen, archers, catapults, mages, etc. All of these things will defend your precious stone against the onslaught of the oncoming horde.

If you have two monitors, get ready for a lot of frustration. At this point in the game there is nothing stopping your mouse cursor from exiting the game screen, so when you need to do a quick turn and click, the game will minimize or become the non-prominent window which can lead to a lot of struggle to get back in time to get your kills in, or just to not die in general.

In a fast paced game, this is a very big flaw that needs to be addressed. Besides that you will find that while the game seems exciting and fun the first go round, after a while you will realise that you are doing the same thing over and over again, picking up the same defences in the same places, and fighting the same monsters on the same path. It's just kind of boring. It does look great and the sounds are spot on, but it needs something more in order to get me to keep playing.

Overall, I think Hell Warders could become something that could have a very big multiplayer draw, you can currently join up with others and defend together, but I just don't think at this stage in development it is ready for an in-depth playthrough. There just isn't a whole lot to do, but I can see the potential.

I think the $14.99 price point is a little too steep for the stage it's in now, but if you are a fan of tower defense games, grab it and hang on to it because it could become a worthwhile piece of your collection once they iron out some kinks and get some more content added in.
