Mordhau Xbox Series X 8/10 “Fun and frustration” ⚔️๐Ÿ›ก️ @mordhaugame #IndieGame #GameDev

Share This Post On Share to Facebook Share to Twitter Share This Post On

I'm going to start my review by admitting that although I thoroughly enjoyed Mordhau, god I suck at it. The expression ‘as useful as a chocolate teapot’ really does sum me up when it comes to this genre! The first thing I did when I loaded up the game was to laugh at the idea of playing through the tutorial, and instead jumped straight into a large battle. Within the first thirty seconds, I had pressed the button to un-equip your weapon, and had swapped my sword for my fists - I was in trouble, but luckily I only had that problem for about forty seconds before a kind person stabbed me in the gut and put me out of my misery. Instead of re-spawning, I decided that it was probably best to quit out and actually play the tutorial.

Publisher Outright Games’ releases have had such a joyful impact on my 2-year-old that I actually sent them an email of thanks a few months ago. This new release continues the theme of incredibly accessible games with visuals and tonality that accurately reflects the franchise on which they are based, turning them into interactive experiences for all the family.

AEW: Fight Forever Xbox Series X Review 6/10 “Great in-ring action, but certain areas need more depth” ๐Ÿคผ‍♂️ #AEW

Share This Post On Share to Facebook Share to Twitter Share This Post On

AEW Fight Forever is the new wrestling offering from developer Yukes, upon its first announcement it was made clear that this game was going down a different path, it would not concern itself with the more simulation style of gameplay, instead opting for a more arcade-orientated approach. For me this was music to my ears, as  I’ve complained for years that arcade was the way to go, opting for fun over realism.

I’m happy to say that the gameplay is the game’s biggest strength; it’s fun, brutal, and packs a punch. Matches are about building momentum and damaging your opponent, you use a combination of strikes and grapples - strikes are a combination of punches and kicks, which can be chained together for maximum effect; grapples can be done in a variety of positions and take many forms, they are easy to execute and have a nice variety. There is a nice fluidity to all of the combat giving a fast pace to matches.

Amnesia: The Bunker Xbox Series X 7/10 “One Element Away From Being a Stone-Cold Classic” ⏱️@frictionalgames

Something Alanis Morissette might find ironic is - even though I’ve played every Amnesia game, I realised that I couldn’t remember a single thing about them, which isn’t because the games aren’t worth remembering, just my poor memory; so I set out and went through them all again to jog my ailing mind and I’m glad that I did as it really helped cement my opinion of this game in that I think it does so much so well, and one thing very poorly.

Originally released for VR platforms in 2019, Last Labyrinth – Lucidity Lost casts the player in the role of a mute, wheelchair-bound person that can only communicate by using a laser pointer attached to their head.

Assisting them through the labyrinth of deadly traps and tricks is a young girl who can be guided by the aforementioned laser pointer. Working together, both must solve puzzles and make their way through the labyrinth, in a bid to survive the deadly trials laid out before them.

Brave Soldier: Invasion of Cyborgs XSX Review 6.5/10 "Cyborgs Schmyborgs" ๐Ÿค– @eastasiasoft #IndieGames #GameDev

Share This Post On Share to Facebook Share to Twitter Share This Post On

Brave Soldier – Invasion of Cyborgs is a pretty direct run ‘n-gun shooter in a 16-bit style. The game sees – as you would assume from the title – cyborgs invade Earth, and (for some reason) only you can stop them.

Like Willem Dafoe with Madonna’s hot candle wax, I really need to get something off my chest. Before I get into this review. Before I finish the delightful pain au chocolat sat next to me. It isn’t a comment on the game itself, merely the title. But oh, it grates. The game is called “Pirates Outlaws”. It’s tautologous nonsense. Though still a bit rubbish, I’d accept Pirate Outlaws or Pirates: Outlaws, at a push, but not that.

๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ‘ฎ Autobahn Police Simulator 3 Review 4.5/10 "New ideas can’t paper over the issues that carry through the series" ๐Ÿš” @AerosoftGmbH #IndieGames #GameDev

Share This Post On Share to Facebook Share to Twitter Share This Post On

I reviewed Autobahn Police Simulator 2 back at the end of 2020, and, whilst I enjoyed my time with the game, the unavoidable technical issues really hacked away at what was a solid premise with some great ideas floating around. In my review of the previous entry, I stated:

“Whilst Autobahn Police Simulator 2 is a tough one to recommend due to the above-mentioned issues, I really hope that a third game comes out and has more time spent on the basics such as camera work, animation, controls and overall smoothness.”

Unfortunately, this is not the case.

It was a sad, sad day when I relinquished my Switch Lite. Having been a fan of the Gameboy and Atari Lynx in my misspent youth, I enjoyed getting hips deep into Mario (oo-er) on bus and train journeys. But, having bought an Xbox when the latest generation came out, I couldn’t justify the expense of running two prime consoles and the double game costs associated with it (I realise this is Games Freezer heresy as Britt has every console available, including TWO Magnavox Odysseys. Probably).

๐Ÿ️๐Ÿ”ฅ Isle of Spirits | XBOX | Review | "A Casual Survival Game" ๐Ÿ️๐Ÿ”ฅ @games_bullet #IndieGames #GameDev

Share This Post On Share to Facebook Share to Twitter Share This Post On
Isle Of Spirits is a casual survival game based on accessibility and simplicity, Isle of Spirits has some really solid ideas but is let down by an oddly rigid, unforgiving end-game and a lack of diversity in the gameplay.

Isle of Spirits begins with your character washed up on the shores of a deserted island, his goal? Escape.

To do this, you’ll need to build a raft by collecting stone, wood, plants and the like from around the island and lashing them all together so that you can sail to safety.

I’ve played a lot of early access games in my time at Games Freezer and I’m used to seeing games that are yet to be fleshed out, heck even ones that are more skeletal than anything!

When I installed Don’t Die, Minerva! I was surprised by how robust it felt and quickly found myself getting stuck into the gameplay.

☆ A Visual Treat For All Video Gamers ☆

Share This Post On Share to Facebook Share to Twitter Share This Post On

Any trip to EGX is a special event for video gamers and this years EGX was no exception.

It actually felt bigger and better this year which sounds cliche but it felt exactly that way this year with all the BIG BOYS being there and the venue just feeling that much more filled out with awesomeness.

Naturally I took a lot of pics in between playing a lot of games.

In my previous EGX article I told you all about the 5 games from EGX that you're not playing right now and now i'm going to shower you with some cool pictures from the UK Video Games Event Of The Year!

Before christmas last year, Ant at Retro Games Collector sent me an early Christmas present in the form of an awesome modded XBOX that was ready to play retro games............

Ant sent me the XBOX in the response to my article on the imminent release of the RetroN5.

Ant and a Google+ buddy James, advised me not to bother with the RetroN and instead get myself a modded original XBOX that has the XBMC media center on it.

At first I was a bit confused as I wasn't aware of the XBOX modding / retrogaming scene and how well supported it is.

Ant sent me the beautiful XBOX in the post and when it arrived my adventure into XBOX Retrogaming Emulation began!

★Who Will Put The Last Generation Of Consoles Out To Pasture?★ #GamersUnite

Share This Post On Share to Facebook Share to Twitter Share This Post On
Games Freezer, Playstation 3
XBOX 360, RetroGaming
Games Freezer, Nintendo Wii

There was a time when a generation of consoles could be put out to pasture gracefully with a fond farewell as the new generation of consoles were ushered in.

As the baton was handed over to the next generation of consoles the gamers would consign their beloved video games consoles to the past and move onto the next gen.

The generation of consoles that have just passed the baton onto the Wii U, PS4's and XBONE's of this world are still very much ingrained into this generation of gamers due to the fact that the length of time that has passed since the Wii, X360 and PS3 were introduced.

This transition is also made harder as players of the last generation were the first to truly embrace online play.

With this online play each game was given longevity that could potentially outlast a games usual life span.

So as we enter into this new world of consoles, when should the X360, PS4 and Wii stop supporting it's players?

When do Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft say enough is enough and turn the lights out on the online Servers?

This will be the first generation of console "deaths" that are really impacted by a switching off of those servers and Nintendo have been the first to reveal their plans....

They have announced that Wii and DS online servers will close as of 20th May 2014....

This closure will remove online multiplayer functionality from a whole host of Wii & DS games.....

The services being closed down for Wii & DS will include online play, matchmaking and leaderboards....

Does this spell the beginning of the end for the other online servers from the other big players?

Tell Us What You Think About This Move From Nintendo

When Do You Think SONY and MICROSOFT will announce their Plans For Shut Downs?

☆ If Only I Had The Room ...... ☆ #Retrogaming #GamersUnite

I often think, if only we had the room........

If only we had the room to buy all the consoles and computers we have owned over the years and maybe some of the ones we didn't own!

So that got me thinking, would I be able to remember the machines I had bought?

If only I had the room and the plug sockets to buy them all again!
