Come see how my season unfolds in these short sharp Champ Manager vids.
Episode 2 sees me delve into the transfer market, travel to Derby and struggle with the name of Derby's ground!
Cartoon games have been given a rough ride as of late. The media seems to paint the picture of games as the villain. They have been blamed for exposing children to violence. But this is a very one-sided image. To completely blame cartoon games for showcasing violence would be vastly unfair. In fact, some people would go as far as to say that games are not responsible for this at all. And, if you delve a little bit deeper then you may find that you agree with this.
I've been trying to come up with a decent Stardew Valley pun involving graves, cemeteries, corpses, anything, and it's not really working. Stardew Cemetery. Stardew Body. Charneldew Valley. Stardew RIP. All rubbish.
I hadn’t heard of The Church in the Darkness before receiving it for review but the trailer, voice cast (Ellen McLain - GLaDOS of Portal fame and her real-life husband John Patrick Lowrie) as well as the premise of secretly making your way through a cult to rescue your nephew) really grabbed me.

Episode 1 sees me evaluate the squad, separate the wheat from the chaff and put a load of players on the transfer list.
Rocky is the video game based on the popular series of Rocky movies, released for the Sega Master System in 1987. The player must train Rocky Balboa before each fight to improve his skills.
Rocky possesses a straight punch, a hook, an uppercut, and body punch as well as various combos.
The opponents, in order, are Apollo Creed, Clubber Lang, and Ivan Drago.

The game also features a two-player mode where player two can choose from any of the above opponents, while player one always controls Rocky.

Pawarumi on Nintendo Switch tasks you with choosing your shooting tactics wisely to either deal out double damage to your enemies, regenerate your protective shields or to recharge your Super Attack! Pawarumi immediately offers you three different weapons and one super attack out of the gate. Weapons are colour coded and depending on the colour of the enemy you hit with the coloured weapon will depend on the positive effect you will have on your damage, shields or super attack.
Billed by the developers as ‘The Citizen Kane of Super Crate Box clones’
(A game I have never played and so am unable to comment on)
Super Mutant Alien Assault puts you in the shoes of a lowly security droid (or two, in the case of the local co-op mode) that has to clear out waves of enemies in a series of 2D rooms whilst completing basic tasks such as carrying canisters from one machine to another or cooling generators that slowly overheat, all the while picking up a selection of random guns and grenades to help you destroy the ever-appearing alien menace.
Super Skidmarks from 1995 was developed by Codemasters and has the Codemasters fingerprints all over it. For me, it's like a tougher Micro Machines with a Rally flavour running through it and boy is it tough.
Watch me struggle and whine through a Championship round of tough knocks and Super Skids!
My Arcade has announced a line of collectables featuring Konami’s Contra created in partnership with Konami. The initial collectables range will include the compact desktop Contra Micro Player™ and handheld Contra Pocket Player™
The Contra Pocket Player and ContraMicro Player will each feature the game’s signature co-op play mode and this co-op is made possible through something called CO-VS™ technology.
It will interesting to see how this works in the wild once this little beauty has been released (Date TBC)
If you haven't played SteamWorld Dig "A Fistful Of Dirt" before then now is the time to buy it on Switch as it's currently dirt cheap (geddit?) I'd heard so many good things about this 2018 Switch release (originally released in 2013 for 3DS and PC) and it had sat on my 'to buy' list for many months before I eventually snapped it up on Switch for a few quid in the special offers section. Oh, man am I glad I finally got to experience this game!

Virtua Racing is the definition of Arcade Racing Games and it's still going strong today with releases on the Nintendo Switch / SEGA Ages. Watch as I attempt to at least reach the last lap of 3 courses!
A game that takes a lot of its style and aesthetic from classic Run ‘n’ Gun Grand-daddy Contra, it looks, sounds and feels a lot like the title it apes but in doing so fails to move the genre forward in any way and instead feels like a fan-written love letter to the game.
Senran Kagura has released games in various genres and now turn their attention to erotic pinball, the premise here being that a group of young women are turning into various animals and one of their friends has luckily devised a way to save them… a ball that fits perfectly into a pinball machine and needs to be flippered at them mercilessly, until they change back to the young, busty humans that they once were.
Micro Machines Turbo Tournament 96 on SEGA Genesis is such a tough devil of a racing game that it will have you tearing your hair out in frustration as you fall off of the office desk for the 9th time in a row.

Terrorarium has a Granny gardener with attitude and a cast of feisty mushrooms in a Pikmin like video game. Watch us do a rapid preview of this early access hidden gem.
NES Cheat Codes were a staple feature of every single video games magazine from the '80s and '90s and some of these codes have been etched into the brains of gamers from the era. I recently received a new notebook from my wife as she knows my love of writing in notebooks. After receiving this present I decided that this notebook's sole purpose would be for me to doodle different video games inspired pieces of art on every page.
Every year I watch the E3 Developer conferences via the brilliant Giant Bomb coverage on YouTube. For me, E3 is like Christmas come early as we get to take a peek at what games are on the horizon. This year the pre E3 chat was almost overshadowed by the absence of the PlayStation guys from Sony but never the less I was excited to see what was on offer from the other giants of the video games industry.
So here are ten E3 games that got me hot under the collar at E3 2019:
Road Rash II is such a legendary video game and this is one of my favourite episodes of Rich's Road Trip as I take on Slater, Slug and the Police in an all-out road rumble!
Street Racer is a fun racer which shares the DNA of Super Mario Kart.
Watch me as I play through the Bronze Cup with Frank and I go head to head with Surf Girl and Hodja on the Sega Mega Drive / Genesis version of Street Racer.
Perchang on Nintendo Switch is an elegant puzzler video game with some striking Music (although slightly repetitive music) and a lovely looking clean design.
Boxing Champs on PC (STEAM) - Arcade Boxing games are in my blood as I was brought up on arcade boxing games such as Mike Tyson’s Punch Out, Final Round By Konami, Title Fight by SEGA and even the Rocky game on Master System which I loved as a kid!
Chase HQ II - 1992 - SEGA Mega Drive / SEGA Genesis.
CHASE HQ II is such a fun video game even when I'm falling off the side of the road into the sea and bushes are taking me out! You gotta love the ramps in this game too!
If you talk to anyone who was born prior to the millennium about gaming, the chances are they will talk to you about Nintendo and Sega.
These seemingly old school, by modern standards, gaming consoles were unbelievably popular with girls and boys alike in the 1990s.
This was the advent of the platform game, the dawn of the beat ‘em up and the emergence of the driving saga.
Fast forward to the twenty-first century and these gaming styles are still as prevalent as ever. The latest all immersive online gaming worlds find their origins in the 64-bit joyful gameplay of the 1990s. Take a look at these games that have stood the test of time and that are rated the top video games ever made, many of which are still alive in some incarnation today.
Look at this lovely mouse from Mad Catz in celebration of the Company’s 30th birthday! They've been proudly serving the gaming community for 30 years and are now embedded into the lives of players as a brand. The Company will be launching a commemorative R.A.T.8+ 1000 Optical Gaming Mouse in 2019, strictly limited to just 1000 units worldwide.
Excited to explore Mars and build up a base camp in order to re-colonise earth I ventured into JCB Pioneer on Switch with great excitement. It felt like this would be a perfect fit for the Switch as I could tend to my colony on Mars whilst chilling on the sofa with my wife as she watches Love Island 2019...(earphones in and eyes down)
A 2D shooter with some very cool ideas and tricks up its sleeve, throughout the fun, I had with the four-hour running time, I couldn’t help but think that this is as close to a John Wick game as we’ll get, which is absolutely fine because it really is great fun.
From Over 9000 Zombies! developer Loren Lemcke comes this charmingly barmy ice hockey arcade game, arriving on Switch a couple of years after debuting on Steam. There are overtones of the Speedball games and the Brutal Sports series, but with an even sillier sensibility. It’s the kind of game Sensible Software might be making if they were still around.
Planet Coaster's Ghostbusters DLC is my game of choice today as I take a look at it in Rich's Rapid Review.
"Planet Coaster is proud to introduce its most ambitious content pack, Planet Coaster: Ghostbusters. The pack boasts a brand new, story-driven scenario and employs the talents of Dan Aykroyd and William Atherton, who voice their roles as iconic Ghostbusters’ co-founder, Raymond Stantz, and Special Agent Walter Peck, from the 1984 classic."
