Golf has always been my comfort food genre for video games. I’ve grown up playing classic golf games such as World Class Leaderboard, Jack Nicklaus Greatest 18 Holes, PGA European Tour, Sensible Golf, Everybody’s Golf, Neo Turf Masters and Tiger Woods on the PS2, Xbox 360 and the PSP to name just a few.

Recently I stumbled across Pixel Pro Golf on my iPhone and it’s been my go-to toilet break game for the last month or so when I have a few spare moments to play something on my phone.

I’m stuck on my train on the way home on a Thursday evening, the train I’m on has stopped and hasn’t moved in the last 15 minutes. Then I remember that I have Beat Cop on my iPhone to play, so I whip it out and get stuck into this great pixel art 80’s police shows inspired video game.

A while back there was a short YouTube video that showed a mock up of a 8bit style Stranger Things video game and the whole world went

“oooh that looks awesome! Stranger Things would make a great video game!”

We ran an article just after that video came out which looked at TV shows that would make great games and of course Stranger Things popped up.

Now fast forward to October 2017 and there is a Stranger Things mobile game!

☆ My Fave Platformer Video Games (Minus Super Mario) ☆ #retrogaming

Over the course of the last few days, I’ve been delving into Shu for the first time prior to its Vita release.

Last week I was getting stuck into Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap as it got its PS4 release.

This feels like a good time, therefore, to get misty eyed again for all the awesome platform video games that I have played over the years.

This time though I’m removing all Super Mario games as of course, the Mario franchise is the perfect example of platforming perfection.

So this list maybe should be entitled “If Super Mario Didn’t Exist”

As I sit here and wait for him to get back to me I fear for his safety on his first night in the unknown wilderness.....

He got in contact with me on my iPhone on Thursday morning and told me his story via text....

His name is Taylor...

He asked me for advice on how to proceed...

He wanted to know what to do next....

I had to put myself in Taylor's shoes and think what would I do next if I was Taylor?

I've just advised him on where he should sleep on his first night stranded alone.....I hope I've told him the right thing....I've never been in that situation so I don't know what to advise but I did advise him on what I thought was truly his best option....

I keep checking my phone to see if he has got in contact with me but nothing yet....

Oh god I hope he makes it through the night......What if he doesn't?!

Another Pixel Art surprise from the vast expanse of the App Store has made its way onto my iPhone.

Soda Dungeon is an interesting twist on the mobile dungeon crawling genre that we have seen so much of recently.

Basically you play a cowardly dude with an interesting business idea.

Instead of you being the dungeon crawling monster slayer why not coerce others to do the crawling whilst you reap the profits....

App Store Curiosity
A couple of weeks ago I was nosing around the App Store looking for a cool game to get stuck into when I stumbled across Combo Quest.

It was the App Store Free Game Of The Week and I just loved the awesome looking pixel art graphics so I had to download it like any self respecting retro gamer would.

Once downloaded I was treated to a game rhythm action that I have grown to love more and more each time I play it!

Defender Of The Crown, Retrogmaing, Retro Gamer

We are big fans of the CinemaWare Video Games releases in the mid to late 80's.

Cinemaware brought atmospheric cinema-like video games to all manner of systems but the releases we remember most were those on the Commodore Amiga.

Such video games as IT Came From The Desert, King Of Chicago and todays featured video game Defender Of The Crown!

The Cinemaware games took their video games inspiration from the movies and Defender Of The Crown does so in the form of the classic swashbuckling movies such as Robin Hood (Good Old R.H Even Features In Game!)

Defender Of The Crown was the Elder Scrolls of it's time and set new standards in video games graphics and involving gameplay

So how have Cinemaware ported this beauty of a Video Game over to Android then?

Give Us A Video Game Created Using Pixels In A RetroGaming Style And We Are In Our Element.....

Double That Up With It Being A Star Trek Game And Then Surely The Game Has To Be Perfect!!

Just Have A Look At The Cool Trailer Video For A Start!

The game sees you enlist in Starfleet and take command of your very own starship....

"The USS Valiant has been destroyed by an unknown attacker, and Starfleet has chosen YOU to continue its mission deep within a mysterious area of space known as the Trexelian Expanse."

The plot revolves around a temporal rift that has caused Starfleet enemies and allies to end up in an unexplored region of space.

In this cool game you will get the opportunity to build your starship, choose your very own crew, and explore the pixel galaxy!

The game is actually set within the original Star Trek universe and players will encounter many characters and locations from Star Trek....sounds cool doesn't it!

The game features narration by George Takei who played Hikaru Sulu, helmsman of the USS Enterprise in the television series.

The game also features the original music from the TV series which really adds to the experience.

The game has taken inspiration from the original series and in particular the sense of exploration and adventure.

We really like the sound of how you can explore the Galaxy across a massive galactic map (reminds us of Mass effect)

We have just downloaded this cool game and will let you know how we get on with it, but so far it's shaping up to be a right treat!

☆Air Supply Infinite Full Review☆ @Quantum Sheep #GameDev #GamersUnite #Share

Share This Post On Share to Facebook Share to Twitter Share This Post On

A few months ago we came across some really interesting screen shots from Quantum Sheep who were working on their update of the original Air Supply game.

What caught our attention immediately was the cool retro visuals that were utilised to outstanding effect within the screen shots that we were looking at.

We L♡VE a good re-tweet and immediately let our army of ☆Freezer Followers☆ know all about this cool game that we had discovered.

Not long after this, our black and white retrogaming bromance began as the  C☆☆L dudes at Quantum Sheep asked if ☆The Freezer☆ would like to make his videogames debut by making a cameo appearance within the Air Supply Infinite game.

Now The Freezer is a cool customer as we all know, but even The Freezer got a "melt on" at the thought of making it's video games debut!

So, what's the game like?

How did The Games Freezer get on with the in game cameo?

All these questions will be answered below!!

Air Supply Infinite - The Review...

You play Sam the Space Man.

Sam has got to run round each planet he visits whilst jumping over aliens and also stocking up on his dwindling Air Supply.

Sam has a limited stock of Smart Bombs which allow him to clear the screen of aliens and also give him an O2 boost when used
<Use Wisely>

Sam also gets the opportunity to collect many other power ups on his epic journey to try and locate the Infinity Cups! <Including The Games Freezer>

Along the way Sam has also got to avoid the Alien Tractor beams which stop him dead in his tracks leaving him vulnerable.....

The game itself moves at a blistering pace as Sam storms round each planet at breakneck speeds all the while trying to jump <Double Tap> over the pursuing Aliens.

Once you get started on this different flavoured runner game, you will find the one more go syndrome really kicking in a treat!

At first you think that this is going to be a stroll in the park, but the challenge of trying to continue until you get that Infinity Cup is truly a tough one!

We downloaded it onto the iPhone 5C and the gorgeous Retro Visuals looked stunning. We are big fans of the retro gaming look and this game captures that feel perfectly.

The Quantum Sheep team have pulled these visuals off a treat.

We love the array of power ups and variants as you go through the game and of course we adored the Games Freezer Power Up which Freezes the pursuing alien dude to the spot leaving you to collect the other power ups as they fall from the sky.

We think that The Freezer is a star in the making after this appearance ;)

When you begin the game, it recommends that you plug your earphones in to truly appreciate the cool music and boy is it cool!

If you like your Music retrogaming style then you will love the retro soundtrack by Yerzmyey, composed on 8bit ZX Spectrum!

Plug those earphones and get playing as you while away the next few hours trying to beat your last Air Run!

Overall, we had so much fun trying to beat our last run. We are not normally drawn to the runner genre but this looks and feels different from almost all runners we have played previously. The feeling of speed and the retro music really add to the cool arcade vibe. We'd love to play this great game on a big screen with that great soundtrack BOOMING OUT!

All we can say is get to the App Store and check it out for yourself and whilst you are there look out for The Games Freezer when it drops from the sky!!

Meanwhile, The Freezer has started to sign autographs using it's plug lead......spooky!

Games Freezer - FREE Access To Development Suite @Project_Anarchy

Share This Post On Share to Facebook Share to Twitter Share This Post On
Project Anarchy The Free Games Development Tool

GamesFreezer spotted some great news about something called "Project Anarchy" recently and we decided to investigate further.

Project Anarchy is giving Free Access to development suite for budding Games Developers who wish to publish games on iOS or Android.

The development suite is a complete end to end game engine and state-of-the-art tool set for mobile gaming.

The whole concept is based around a busy game development community centred at www.projectanarchy.com

What is so cool about this concept is that it includes an entirely FREE license to ship your game on iOS, Android and Tizen platforms.

In order to ensure Project Anarchy is free for iOS, Android and Tizen they encourage developers who use it to become part of the bustling  community and add value to the community in order to ensure its a great place to make games.

Secondly they ask for the opportunity to do some marketing with developers when it comes to releasing the game, which is no bad thing as far as we can see.

Thirdly, if you have created a game targeting Android platform that you plan to upload to an app store, the FREE license requires that you build an equivalent x86-compatible version of the game and upload it alongside any other versions that you have built (apparently building this x86 is pretty straightforward)

All of this sounds pretty reasonable to us for the FREE use of the Project Anarchy development suite of tools.

Take a trip to projectanarchy.com and get involved with this great new concept that could well enable you to create the game of your dreams!

Are you interested in taking advantage of this great piece of kit?

What game would you create using the Project anarchy Tool Set?
